  1. Black friday and cyber deals? Where, I saw none

We went to HD to get these on Saturday, and they had literally just sold out :(
  2. Enough is enough already............................

A quick question for everyone... For your digital prints, are you using a cast material? I noticed we get less curl using a cast product than with calendered vinyl. For cut vinyl, we never have any problems using Avery 700HP calendered films.
  3. Hanging Dibond - Attaching Hangstrips Question

We have used two-part epoxy (loctite from a hardware store.) Just make sure you scuff and clean the material. And I assume the hanging strips are french cleats? In the past we have used PVC instead of MDF with success.
  4. Business Cards?

I just ordered some silk cards from 4over.com with gold foil and they look awesome.
  5. pulling my hair out

From looking at both designs, I think the client does not want any photoshop gymnastics. Honestly, apart from the unauthorized use of Papyrus, I like the bottom one better. Perhaps you can show him a few better font choices, and limit the number of buttons that you push :) Good luck!
  6. printing on silk fabric

    spoonflower.com can print on silk.
  7. Where to buy stainless steel and glass (or acrylic) signs with standoffs

Are you looking to sub-contract the manufacturing of these signs or investigating how to make them yourself, in house? If you want to sub them out, perhaps you can try going to a sign shop that is local to you or contact almost ANY person on this board directly. Its a fancy looking sign but its...
  8. How to align OBJECTS to path in Coreldraw...?

there are two ways I would try. The first is I would type a bunch of the letter i, and then fit it to a circle path. If that doesn't work, you can make your shape, and then using the TRANSFORMATION function, use the radius transform. You need to play around with the settings to get what you...
  9. Need some advice on how to wrap this

Any personal projects like this get a big surcharge. Car people can be really really nit-pickey, and we often assume its going to take more than one try to get it right (in their opinion) or its going to take us longer than typical to install in order to quadruple check measurements, etc.
  10. Opinion of Sign permit and inspectors, whats the limits?

In the past two years, I've lost over $30K in work because my clients couldn't get permits. I had someone come in to redo outdated signs. He wanted to REPLACE a rotting old sign with a new carved, gold leaf sign, and add some letters to the face indicating the entrance for the restaurant. Nope...
  11. Lenticular printing

4 over does lenticular business and post cards, perhaps they can make something larger?
  12. Lenticular printing

A lenticular banner sounds REALLY expensive. And I would think it would not work well without a rigid substrate, but I don't know much. Good luck!
  13. System for naming/archiving files

We use consecutive job numbers, and reference them on our paper work order and invoice. In the past, the job number was the same as the invoice number, which worked 99% of the time. Now that we use SignVox, we indicate the job number in the item description. We have computer folders of 100...
  14. Well, Reading made the news again......................

"... when they were confronted by the "concerned citizen."" I'm just saying, that "concerned citizen" didn't need to be involved in the incident. And Gino, in the 1.5 sq mile city I live in, there have been 7 homicides this year. SEVEN!! I have had many restless nights wondering if the...
  15. Well, Reading made the news again......................

Robbery is bad, don't get me wrong, but we have law enforcement officers for a reason. The penalty for stealing smokes and lottery tickets shouldn't be your life.
  16. Customer buys printer

Why not just laminate them for $4 sqft, and have him sign a release stating you are not liable for damaged prints. That is what I would do :)
  17. Gymnasium floor

Our biggest customer installs gym floors, and we provide the graphics... All the logos, center court, etc are painted on the floor using stencils. There is a specific type of paint, but the name eludes me.
  18. e-mails that seem to vanish with no trace

do you have gmail? We had a problem over the summer losing emails, and I know one of my clients was having problems, too. Things would vanish, not get sent, be gone without a trace.
  19. Couple jobs from this week.

typical client: "What do you mean a four color painted sign takes at least a week?!? What are you guys doing over there!" us: um, literally waiting for the paint to dry?
  20. Material choice for window stickers?

General Formulations 223 or 222 is a 6 mil vinyl that does not need to be laminated to keep its rigidity and its got an AWESOME price point.
