  1. rapid remover!

I love some rapid remover also, it is nasty but it works. I usually follow it up with some general "wax and grease remover" from our shop guys stash, just to be sure all the remover is gone before installing new decals. Also, 3M woodgrain and striping remover is awesome for OLD vinyl on trucks.
  2. Avalanche rear window

Don't some of these windows raise/lower? Could it be the window trim peeling back the material? If not, I would check the installation; was it cut back from the edges, etc, etc. Or, it could be that the window was not cleaned 100% and there is Armor-All or similar on the glass. I hate window perf.
  3. Closest topic I could think of.................

Call your buddies in the city municipal departments that you deal with already. They probably know the people in permitting/zoning/etc. Tell them the story & what you'd like to do - then see what they can do for you. Just got through a similar process in a historic district, friends help. The...
  4. i should know this one...

Used to have it, no longer installed, can't find it...
  5. tips for printing static cling on edge & then cutting them

If the cling is going on the inside of the window then you will need to reverse print on clear cling. (edge printed clings do not stick to windows with heavy coverage) Otherwise, it's pretty straight forwards like all other Edge jobs.
  6. Problem with liquid lamination ClearShield

Gino; I know better than to ever TRY to do it that way, I was just wondering how they could have possibly had it "work" for them in any instance. Ango; could a different (shorter term/indoor?) vinyl have possibly been used (accidentally) causing material problems in this case? If it's only 1...

  8. Problem with liquid lamination ClearShield

Only having very limited experience trying liquid lam out... do you install the wraps without lam, and then "spray bomb" the lam on the car? From trying liquid lam on some decals it seemed that bending the decals caused cracking (very visible) in the lam, I wouldn't believe that you could...
  9. What would it take?

I would suggest putting feelers out there for a local independent wrap installer. We have a guy here who is an outside contractor (just comes in for installs when we are too busy to handle them), I would think someone like that would be able to come do your wrap on your personal/shop vehicle and...
  10. Prisoners, pigs and decals - news story

I don't like how the prisoners are allowed to run sign & graphics businesses and take money from those of us trying to make an honest living... Our bread and butter here is police/fire/EMS graphics. I have a customer who was using a printing "company" here in KY that used prisoners for labor...
  11. Low Acid Paper?

Supplier is delivering a roll of GFPHOTO around noon. We'll see how it goes... Supplier recommended another brand also, but rolls were two days away from here. Sihl's paper is supposedly acid-free, but the coating that's on it for the solvent to adhere to is not.
  12. Low Acid Paper?

I have a customer looking for cheap historical photo reprints... Anyways, I have a nice roll of Sihl 3686 Trisolv here already. It prints great for all that we've done in the past. However, the customer has requested a "low acid" paper for this project. I know nothing about the acidity of the...
  13. Not sure where to put this pdfs/Word?

X2 on form fields in Acrobat Professional. When they make design changes you will have to recreate all the fields with the new PDF, but it's a one-time set up fee on your end and then he can modify the field values to his hearts content. I just did this with gift certificates for a customer...
  14. New from Ohio

Welcome from an ex-Ohioan... I still own property there but now live in KY. It's a great place here (signs101). :Welcome:
  15. wrap design

make 110% sure that the colors are adjusted on the food correctly so that it looks appetizing! printing images of food can go one of two ways, really appetizing or really disgusting - especially pizza! and X2 on checking your spelling.
  16. How much to replace?

keep looking around. call your materials distributors & ask them if they know of anyone selling used equipment or that is going out of business. the new print heads and rip software are going to cost you more than you'll pay for the printer. if the printer is free, however, then it may be worth...
  17. Catalog Printing

Yes, and without any expenses for toner, etc in most cases. I used to work at a print shop and we paid 10 cents click charge for each sheet side, full color (13"x19" sheets).
  18. Sheriff Star

posting a pic of the one you need would help a lot!
  19. Someone please explain gerber edge printers

We do a LOT of municipal work (fire/police depts) and the Edge is the shizzit for that. For example, say you have to make a white 6" reflective stripe with a 1/4" pinstripe on both sides of it, or 2"gold/6"white/2"gold striping or blue/white/blue striping. Or, you have a gold reflective...
  20. Recently repainted truck...

Everyone is right here... including the client. After all, it IS a dump truck. We do a lot of dump trucks & similar (large asphalt, construction, etc company right next door on both sides) here & if the client says stick it, we stick it. Most companies with dump trucks have them for 20 years...
