  1. Looking for old threads about Artwork Theft

I guess I should have asked for some type of deposit... but work was slow that day and the "customer" wanted to come in and work work with me on the design. It took about an hour start to finish to design the artwork, maybe I should just send him out an invoice for the artwork/design labor...
  2. Looking for old threads about Artwork Theft

I recall reading some old threads about how other sign shops have handled customers taking their proof artwork and going elsewhere to have the artwork printed/cut. Finally had it happen to me... Designed a couple layouts for a new customer after speaking to them about fleet graphics, and they...
  3. Transparency issue.

The spot color is coming from the spot color "CutContour" that you are saving the cut line in Illustrator as. You cannot have spot colors with transparency in most cases; used to have the same problem when I had a Roland. Open the Illustrator file in Photoshop (without the contour line)...
  4. Photo mounting options

I would be concerned about the longevity of the vinyl or adhesive that you are using. Most vinyls are only rated for 5-10 years, so what happens after that to the material; granted it's indoors, but the vinyl will eventually wear out compared to paper and will need replaced. I would suggest...
  5. Perforated Vinyl Liquid lamimate

Unlaminated perf goes on sooooo much better and looks 100% better also, it just only lasts about a year. Laminated perf looks bad to me, but it lasts a lot longer. However, liquid laminate will NOT work for perf. Take it to another sign shop nearby and have them laminate it for you. Where I...
  6. Has anybody used PostCoats?

Sorry, I didn't watch the video of what a post coat actually is until now... Looks like a piece of shrink wrap junk to me. The product I've used in the past is NOT this. Hopefully this link works...
  7. Has anybody used PostCoats?

Yes, I have used them a few times on sign posts. You can buy them at Lowes in the fence/treated wood section. Just figure them into the pricing for your project. They are easy to install over straight posts & cut/drill easily. Then just screw the caps on. Here is a photo of a sign with the...
  8. 33" Banner Stand - Material Size?

Your manufacturer should have templates readily available. Call them or check their website.
  9. S\Help sawing rolls of lam and adhesive in half

Your local suppliers may have a slitter in-house. Call them & see if they do; a supplier here slits for around $20 IIRC. It's a fine blade like a deli/meat saw or a rotary razor blade like those roller blade knives if that helps anyone... Also, the vinyl has to be VERY tightly wound for a good...
  10. 23 Carat Gold Leaf?

They specified Edge printed/cut 23k Gold Leaf with Laminate; so the hand-painted type wouldn't work. Art essentials sells rolls of 23k material. What is it about these companies that sell this type of material that their websites are so horrible with lack of information on the products???
  11. 23 Carat Gold Leaf?

I just received the specs on the latest firetruck we're going to be lettering... and one of the specs is 3" Tall 23 Carat gold Leaf letters. I know Leo's sells it, but are there any alternatives out there?
  12. GS6000 Green Head Issue

Yes, we had let our warranty from the distributor lapse due to no issues with the printer. My call yesterday was initially to figure out what the cost was going to be to replace the head, but when they said it would be covered... I was quite happy to say the least.
  13. GS6000 Green Head Issue

So, yesterday I finally ran another nozzle check & I too saw the infamous green head issue. (no output from green head) My printer is about 1 1/2 years old, but since it had to be fixed I found my information on the printer & called Epson service. They got a tech in touch with me within 30...
  14. F*&% pos **%$&* $&*&

I think you're thinking of more of a "temp" file that you can open after a crash. Like when InDesign crashes, once you restart it it has a pretty recent temporary file that it opens back up for you to either save or trash.
  15. Domino's Pizza Logo Colors?

Scratch the reply above, I just went to BOTW & found it in 2 seconds: http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/dominos-pizza-pasala-bien It's 307/186 .
  16. Domino's Pizza Logo Colors?

In the PDF I downloaded from their official website I found the following colors in the vector artwork: Red = 4.47,100, 82.57, 0.32 Blue = 87.4, 46.53, 11.45, 0.26 Check those numbers against your swatch book & find out what colors are closest, or just print it using those values & you should be...
  17. Gerber Back-Cut ROCKS!

I cannot find this thread anywhere? Maybe it's in the members only area??? This link may help you: http://www.graphitek.com/gerber_edge_pricing.htm
  18. Gerber Back-Cut ROCKS!

I'm not seeing the option in Omega GSPplot 2.51. Must be a newer feature in 4. Would be quite nice to have! Do you have to flip the file yourself for the crack-n-peel backs or create a seperate (cut only) file for this operation? Or does the software know what you're trying to do? How do...
  19. Recommended paper for solvent printer?

We have both the Sihl TriSolv & Postermax & both work great. The postermax we have is more Matte & the Sihl is Satin; I print both using the default media profile for economy vinyl. Postermax can take a while to dry though, so be careful handling it right out of the machine.
  20. 3M has a economy 3 year film out now

I'm a big fan of the 3M IJ35C myself. It's cheap enough for economy print vinyl & lasts 3-4 years outdoors. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Graphics/3Mgraphics/Products/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20S7M3000000_nid=JJW6H8X29VgsGW5VRFJ6Q9glHKH329RWSMbl
