  1. Solo Cold Laminator by Daige reviews?

IIRC one of our esteemed forum members threw his in the trash same day he got it. Personally I have never used one, but here is what I know about laminators. Buy a decent rig right away. A bad laminator will cost you more in ruined product and frustration than it's worth. On that note...
  2. What type of printing process is being used?

Yup. Best marketing practices make it possible to sell average products at premium prices.
  3. Gromett die supplier

Another vote for Hiker. Ours has been great. I've used a Stimpson in another shop and it seems to take more effort. Maybe I'll run them side by side if the opportunity presents itself.
  4. Cold laminator or heat assisted laminator?

We run a 65" cold RS. Never any issues with silvering. Maybe I'm lucky? If I was to get a lam with heat it would not be heat assist. I'd get the full blown heated rig which opens up a whole world of laminates and capabilities. Why go half way?
  5. What type of printing process is being used?

You missed turning on the computer, opening the software, loading the file, looking at the file blah blah blah.:Big Laugh Like artbot said, overselling the process. Lotsa sizzle, not much meat. And to be honest I do not see the point of their process. IMO the basic premise would be to show...
  6. SOLARIS ink for a Roland?

When my heads clogged with 3rd party ink my tech worked his magic. He took the heads out and disassembled them so he could get them thoroughly flushed, soaked them, reassembled then flushed through the manifold. Lather, rinse repeat, until it was back to running. Stuck with OEM ever since and...
  7. Considering buying a Flatbed - need advice.

As fickle as clients can be I would be very hesitant to make any $ix figure equipment purchases. Leverage direct to trade printers. I do. I sleep well at night letting them worry about white ink, UV lamps, head crashes, blah blah blah... Gino and Colorado IMO are very rare instances in the...
  8. Secondary backup drive in case of hard drive failure

I may be the odd one out. At this point I'm looking for a used data safe inside of which I'll install a Drobo. Right now our current backups are in a fire safe that has run out of room. Have to look into Backblaze and Carbonite also.
  9. Printed Drag Knife - inspiration video

Very nice. Smooth operation. Now all I need is a CNC, 3D printer, software and talent.
  10. Sell up or start up?!

These threads never end well...ever. Gino is spot on.
  11. What causes the printer to syphon empty the ink cartridges?

Bingo. With the screen missing it allows the mesh to touch the head creating a capillary action. In rare instances the mesh under the screen can swell and create the same scenario.
  12. 3MIJ180Cv3 Is anyone else having a problem with the vinyl?

No problems with 3M IJ180Cv3 whatsoever. Been using Arlon 6000XRP kits for several years.:Big Laugh Got tired of the 3M automatic price increase on top of already expensive material. The roughly 300 a pop per kit savings is way better in my pocket. I do all the printing for another shop...
  13. Remax Issues

Thank you for finding and posting the link.
  14. Remax Issues

As it turns out, under Federal Trademark Law the marks in question should never have been issued in the first place. The Lanham Act 15 U.S.C. §1052(b) provides that any mark that consists of or comprises the flag of any foreign nation cannot be registered as a trademark. It is...
  15. What are some good sites for buying used equipment?

Signs101. No really. Seems a lot of nearly new equipment has been popping up here lately. Makes me wonder why.
  16. What topic would you like to be educated on?

Layout??? Design??? What are these things of which you speak? :Big Laugh
  17. Cut vinyl or a durable sticker?

Yupper^^^ Although if you use a product like 3M Electrocut while employing the "Manic Weeding" method they can go quite well. It's all a judgement call on what material to use. For finely detailed work I will spend the premium Electrocut commands because it makes my life easier.
  18. Pantone color of the year

    I'm still waiting for Peuce.
  19. What topic would you like to be educated on?

Getting up to snuff with InDesign. Although being immersed in it like I am now will probably get me there.
