I worked May and June without an air conditioner, shop stayed around 90 degrees....the shop bill was $185 each month. Installed two monster air conditioners, kept the temperature at 72 degrees, the bill jumped all the way up to $190 a month. Home we're on budget billing...we pay around $140...

  5. Huge corrugated plastic sign-need help with quote

You can offer him a guarantee on the banner if you do it correctly and you won't have to worry about it. If you do use coro push for the 10mm stuff. If he won't go with that and he wants the thin stuff make sure when you're putting the board across the bottom you also install a couple of...

Your parents ran a shop? Why did their shop close?
  8. Another Murphys law case.

When we bought our last home I had my mortgage broker (fraternity brother) pull my credit report to pre-qualify me for the loan. He called me half an hour later and told me that he couldn't get me a loan because I'd been 30 days behind on 35 of 36 car payments. It took half a day to figure out...
  9. What r the chances the monitors are biased by there involvement with equipment sales?

The guy is a testament to Fred and Stacey's patience.
  10. Cheesy Franchise?

What's always troubled me about Signs By Tomorrow is that they've got 180 franchise locations....all using that God-awful logo that was designed by a photocopy shop in the 80s.
  11. Interesting!

So they got nailed for being unlicensed. You know what the qualifications were when I got licensed? Having enough cash to pay for it. Is being "unlicensed" all they could come up with to charge them with since "incompetent" isn't a crime?
  12. Wanting to build a new table...

We currently have three tables. A 4x8, a 4x16, and a 4x24 that are currently covered with Upson board (don't ask, you don't want it). I'm going to rebuild them all in January to better serve what we do now. I'm replacing the plywood top on the 4x8 with a 1/2" teflon cutting block ($70 and...
  13. Banner stand failures

Me either. Only failure I've ever had was the hook that goes into the pole broke off of one, other than that the cheap ones have worked great for me.
  14. Your thoughts on New business card

If you're going to insist on using that ridiculous picture at least stick it in some photo editing software and get rid of those big black spots in the lower right. Personally I'm still thinking Dad's original card looked better.
  15. So I'm hiring someone to redo my logo....

...and yes, I am well aware that this doesn't actually fall in line with my traditional bashing of people who say "It's always hardest to design for yourself." I still say that's a crock. I'm just at a point where I've decided to turn the business loose and see where it can go. I'm...
  16. So I'm hiring someone to redo my logo....

The logo I designed in 1995 has served us well over the years and I'm still happy with it. I've toyed with 10-15 other versions since I bought the shop four years ago but never really hit on anything I was completely happy with. In July I paid off the loan I took out to buy the shop...the plan...
  17. So I'm hiring someone to redo my logo....

Sounds like the same discussion I had with myself. :ROFLMAO:
  18. So I'm hiring someone to redo my logo....

So I found a designer that I'm hiring to redo my logo....well not just my logo, the entire damn brand identity. I'm getting the logo redone, finally getting a website, redesigning the storefront, the road sign, the interior customer area and anything else that needs it. Now I just have to...
  19. Monitor calibration Tool

We use the X-Rite Eye One Display 2 that we bought on ebay for around $50. It's not perfect but it does get us in the ballpark. One thing to consider is that if you're using low-end LCD monitors they aren't capable of getting the colors accurate.
