  1. some advice on ps picture

Heck yes. By fooling with the tolerance settings in your selection tool (magic wand probably would work best) you should be able to ultimately just select the highlites or portions of the plate you wish to change color to. Or do an image adjustment to just that portion. (create a separate...
  2. What did i do wrong? (customer meeting)

My feeling is this. Maybe don't break out the layout charge. Just quote him the $285 for the job, finished, installed done deal. Some people freak out if they think they're buying just time. They prefer to think they're buying a physical product. You and I both know that the design (or...
  3. font id help?

Excellent! How do you guys do it? Thanks a ton!
  4. font id help?

I'm hoping there's enough legibility for some sharp-eyed signperson to identify this font. The "g" seems unique.
  5. "Can you email me the file?"

Or offer to sell him the artwork so he doesn't feel "held hostage" to your shop.
  6. When the unexpected happens

Good post. Sorry for your loss. My wife and I have done this very thing. (create an easy to understand, all in one place folder for this eventuality) One more thing I might suggest is a "do not open, destroy" box with any memorandums, photos, personal stuff that you don't want your kids to...
  7. Want to dull a shiny vinyl to matte

Thank you people. I'll get a gallon and give it a go. Is it a water based product or oil based?
  8. Want to dull a shiny vinyl to matte

We're about a third of the way done with a store interior. It consists (among other things) of a 24" wide stripe along each wall. (walls are each 100 feet long. So the client arrives and doesn't like the shiny vinyl because the texture of the wall surface and the closely mounted ceiling...
  9. How do multiple rolls of vinyl come in from your supplier?

By coincidence we just received (yesterday) two 50 yard rolls of an intermediate grade vinyl in 24" width. They came in the original company boxes, but not taped together. Two separate boxes, (1 of 2, 2 of 2). Wasn't UPS though, it was FedEx. They are virtually perfect. (no damage) I think...
  10. Lowballers!! Aaarrgh!!!

You know, the other day I was looking at some old job orders from the eighties and nineties and was amazed at the prices we were getting then. There is some truth to it. Today I've got more invested than then, but technology is driving some market forces that depress sign prices. For the...
  11. Women!!!

Anatomically women are different. (don't we love that!) And emotionally, they're different mainly because of "filters". Filters as I speak of them are the "glasses" we wear, (both men and women) that allow us to perceive the world around us in a certain way. Women for example, grow up...
  12. Seams

Plan the seam carefully if you must have them. We try for zero seams but it's not always possible. 3/4" seam seems about right for size. But try not to have any at all.
  13. it's here !!!!

    Totally jealous!
  14. Le sigh

And get what? Register your discomfort with their insolvency? That's about all you can accomplish at this point I'll bet. Hopefully they get their ship righted in the water and can make good on things.
  15. Le sigh

They're obviously having financial problems and don't want take calls because they may not actually have an answer for you and who knows how many others out there like you. I assume, if they are an otherwise reputable company, that once they get some sort of resolution to their problems...
  16. Font ID?

That's it! Thank you very much, big help.
  17. Font ID?

What the font couldn't identify this one. Anyone?
  18. Do not even consider a FASTSIGNS franchise!!!!

Cdiesel is right on. Was just about to make the same point. Doesn't matter if you're selling signs or coffee. If you're going to be successful you must have a valid business model, stick to it, and plan, plan, plan. Doesn't surprise me a bit that some FS owner's haven't made signs. (as the...
