  1. Looking for vector lake maps

Go to google maps satellite mode and find the lake you want, take a screenshot, paste into Illustrator and trace with the pen tool. It sounds like a lot of work but it is not bad and it's a really good way to get good with the pen tool.
  2. illustrator large vector file question

Why won't it save? Does it give you a memory error?
  3. BANDING

On the calibration test you want those two black squares to meet up and look like they aren't separate or overlapping. Judging by the picture you need to keep going negative. Also, how does your nozzle check look?
  4. Employees on Cell Phones

That's true. I'm lucky to be in an office with very like minded people so we just flow well.
  5. Roland SoljetPro4 XR-640

Usually if one color drops out it means there is an air leak in that line or the ink cartridge is empty and didn't flag the machine properly. Those are the first things I check. Is there ink in the damper?
  6. Employees on Cell Phones

I personally would feel belittled if I worked at a place that told me what to do with my cell phone. I'm an adult and know what is reasonable and what's not. If my mom calls during work hours I'm going to answer it no matter who my boss is. Browsing Facebook at any time except lunch is obviously...
  7. Question Roland True Vis

The ink formula is different for the TruVis so that would explain the difference between the XC540 and it. I have seen some people setup box fans in front of the printer but beware of dust!
  8. Question Roland True Vis

Make sure your post heater is cranked all the way up. If it's really humid where you are you might want to invest in a dehumidifier but I would check the levels first to see if you are within spec for the machine.. Going too dry causes static issues.
  9. Digiprint supplies??

Industry standard is no returns on electrical parts. There is no way to know if the tech dropped some cleaning solution on the electronics while installing and there is no way to know if the machine had a pre-existing condition that caused the new head to short out. It's a risk you take when you...
  10. Looking for Mac software recommendations...

What do you use? Linux? Which distribution? I have been thinking of changing over.
  11. Mimaki CJV30-160 Won't cut correct

A ha! Yes, cutting and not printing in Rasterlink 5 does not work for some reason. You can also try just cutting out of FineCut as well.
  12. Connecting Mutoh 1604 via Ethernet to Caldera/Mac

The IP address in the printer probably reset again. It seems to do that every time you unplug it.
  13. Connecting Mutoh 1604 via Ethernet to Caldera/Mac

That's a switch so it should work fine. Sorry I can't really help you with the MAC side. Double check if the IP address actually saved properly because ValueJets tend to be wonky and don't always save the IP address for some reason. Then just make sure you have the printer's IP address in...
  14. Connecting Mutoh 1604 via Ethernet to Caldera/Mac

Are you connecting via a direct cable connection or through a router?
  15. Need Help Replacing Roland VP-540i Mainboard? Help!!!

Yeah the terminals collect a lot of dust and ink sometimes. Make sure you use 90% as it dries faster and is better for electronics. I usually use a swab and just get it nice and wet and clean as much of the surface as possible. It will dry in seconds but I usually wait about 10 minutes before...
  16. Need Help Sabre 408 NOT cutting perfect circles, ovals, etc...

I don't see that brand very often but a common reason that happens is if the offset value it incorrect. Your blade should have an offset value on the packaging and that is what it should be set to in the cutter. Edit: Woops it's a CNC machine. Still valid if you are using a drag knife.
  17. Tips For Reducing Wastage

Look at this guy! He doesn't know how to use the 3 shells!
  18. Need Help Replacing Roland VP-540i Mainboard? Help!!!

I would air dust every terminal that a flat ribbon cable connects to and then use 90% alcohol to clean them and then air dust again. Then I would re-install all the cables and replace any that have damage, dirtiness, or burn marks. Then I would air dust every board and get all of the dust off...
  19. Need Help Replacing Roland VP-540i Mainboard? Help!!!

Your issue looks like an electrical short which means whatever was shorting out is not anymore. The way these machines work is the CPU on the main board creates the head signal but it is only 3 - 5 volts so it needs to be amplified to a higher voltage to fire the head nozzles. I don't know what...
  20. Sai Flexi 12

Boxed profiles will never be perfect for everyone especially the heat settings. These profiles are made just so you can print right after the machine is installed and if you want profiles that work for your environment, ink type and setup, you need to make them yourself.
