Here is my secret to saving thousands on ink. When I have to print more than 2 or 3 banners for a job I sub them out. I also don't need a banner welder.
Time will tell with MicroSoft. Until I went back to school our shop was all PC. Now I do all the design work on a Mac and use a PC for a RIP server, which still runs XP Pro.
IMO Microsoft should stop screwing around with all the bloatware and fluff. Would it be so terrible for them to make a...
I buy all my Roland ink from US Cutter. Saves me a ton. Just set up an online account. It's easy sleddin' after that. Excellent documentation gets sent right to your email. I ordered ink last Tuesday night(7p.m.) It got delivered Thursday morning. 2 days from Memphis to Wisconsin.
Estimate is all we use. It's quick and accuracy is good. When doing mass quantities of pieces we run different bulk rates. Estimate only allows one bulk rate so we run the estimate in regular mode then manually calculate the final price depending on quantity.
All a matter of preference and what your core business is. I happen to have a truck. Great for oversized loads, which in my case have nothing to do with signs. I built a bike loader for my pickup. Can haul one bagger or two sport bikes.
Wow, such a well produced video including foul language and street gibberish. No mention of the inks and their properties. Gamut, UV resistance, nothing. After seeing this I will never buy anything from your company. Unbelievable.
Unless you are firing up a new printer, shutting one down for storage, or recovering from garbage 3rd party inks there is no reason on earth to use a cleaning cartridge. Ever.
If it comes from other shops or designers it is a PDF. Otherwise we take whatever and charge to make it work. Faster and simpler. All supplied files get pre-flighted too.
Replace the cutting strip to eliminate a simple variable. Can't tell you how many times I've gotten burned looking for the major issue and it ends up being simple. Those are Homer moments. DOH!
I second the opinion of getting a job at an established shop. Buying a printer is super easy. As is the rest of the needed equipment. They never tell you about the horrific learning curve before making salable product. Or the software expense/problems or any one of a million other things...
You have a piece of fuzz hitching a ride on one of the heads causing the droplets. That is why your manual cleaning fixed it the first time. We make sure to clean often, and always before big jobs. the weird smudge may be from ink getting somewhere it isn't supposed to be and transferring by...
nope...
No matter what you used I don't think they'd last in a dishwasher anyway. Have to be mindful of the health hazard of the labels also. Jus' sayin'...
Might want to check out the OKI color lasers and self weed paper. I've been thinking about going this route myself. Can use the printer for everyday office tasks and still do shirts. Right now I print transfers on my Roland.
