  1. Is there anything you won't print/paint?

Extreme hate stuff or pro-abortion stuff. Love....Jill
  2. First shot at business card layout

I'd lose the logo on the back as it is redundant. I'd also lose the metallic looking box and simply place your contact info at the bottom. Do you need an email addy if your site has a contact form? And definitely lose the "& More" because in my opinion it's tacky and implies that maybe you...
  3. Shop van design critique

You were actually somewhat close with the process blue color. Maybe with some white in it. Try making the red parts white in the logos, you don't want light blue touching red. The yellow is too ketchup-n-mustard for my taste.
  4. The wonders of "nephew art".....

For some reason it reminds me of Beavis and Butthead.
  5. Shop van design critique

It's hard to read in the thumbnails and jarring once enlarged. Lacks contrast, lacks flow, very busy. The red on reddish orange is particularly difficult to read. Love....Jill
  6. The wonders of "nephew art".....

How much you wanna bet he (or his nephew) has a tattoo of that masterpiece? :) Love....Jill
  7. RapidTac and Wet Mounting?

Mike- Clear app tape= dry application, use RT or anything else with it and it's a pain. Mirror/Glass= always try dry app first especially with small letters. Rapid Tac 2= for use with wet app on glass or in cold temps. Mirror/Glass= be REAL careful, I would not advise using a heat gun you...
  8. So how do you learn to letter by hand?

You can also print out a nice roman letterstyle from your computer, tape it onto a piece of glass, and try to replicate it. That or pounce patterns are a good start. I find the sans serif styles much harder to make look "right". I just faked it till I made it and I still fake it here and...
  9. critique my work - The Vector Doctor

Joe that is really good. I think changing the hair really helped it, but what the VD did was way better than the customer's first one.
  10. Manual hole punch/PVC?

    That's paint.
  11. Lion Sleeps Tonight... acapella

That was cute and so are they. Gonna FW that to my brother, it is his fave. Love....Jill
  12. Manual hole punch/PVC?

OK back from Harbor Freight. I bought both the hollow punch set for $5.99 and the Deep Throat punch for $24.00. Yes, I only bought it because of the name. It did not come with a needed allen wrench which I discovered after getting home. The other one mentioned on this thread was on sale for...
  13. If you were starting over, what would you do/buy?

If I had the power to go back in time I would have gone to college to be an art teacher. Or some sort of art historian. When I started in signs some sort of talent was involved, now anyone can buy their way into the business. I am not against using modern equipment, but it seems that as soon...
  14. Manual hole punch/PVC?

They dropped off the rest of my cut off sheet yesterday (it was accidentally left in the van and I was too busy to follow up) So I do have some test scraps available now. I am going to HF later today, and if I can find my drill I think I will try all three methods. My son used my drill and...
  15. Plastic to Alumalite, what glue?

Clever idea with the paint mask! Why am I not surprised?
  16. critique my work - The Vector Doctor

First off, what a tragedy. Can't imagine how horrible this is for his family. Secondly, I like what you are doing so far. The hair is my biggest beef, it needs to be spikier and have more white spots added to make it look lighter. Like DDubia did. The nose needs a bit of work too. And the...
  17. Manual hole punch/PVC?

Looks like a trip to Harbor Freight is in order. I hate to go there because I always buy extra stuff! There is a Primanti's nearby though. Thanks for the info.
  18. adhesive removal

I'm glad it worked out OK. I was just going to add that I have had "Goof Off" remove automotive paint when removing old stickers. Love....Jill
  19. Plastic to Alumalite, what glue?

I agree about somehow fastening from the back with screws. If the Alumalite is painted, anything you use will only be as strong as the paint bond. And Gorilla Glue, while it does work, can be so messy and unpredictable. I think the VHB might be a better option, after all, it is pretty thin...
  20. Spot on wrap

I am sorry, but that just looks terrible. It clashes with the colors in your logo and is virtually illegible from a distance. The text lacks contrast and the stretched phone number is nasty looking. Perhaps if you changed all the text to plain white it would look less awful. Or even if you...
