  1. Does Flexi have a limited amount of cut shapes it can send out at one time?

There should be no limit. The computer sends the data over and the plotter fills it's memory up. When there is not enough memory left the plotter tells the computer to pause while it cuts and frees up more space and then continues until the job is done. You should be able to virtually cut an...
  2. Environmental Match wont work

The media sensor could be failing. I see a lot of my customers covering the sensor with tape due to end of media problems happening during printing. Make sure you didn't do that early on and forgot about it. If you are looking from the back of the machine the sensor is on the right side of the...
  3. Warranty / Head Replacement

I usually see 3 to 5 years out of these heads depending on use and how well the machine is maintained. I have seen some fail earlier due to high use(3 shifts a day 7 days a week which the machine is not designed for), poor maintenance(most common reason for failure) and/or bad head strikes. If...
  4. Replacing a head on Roland SP540V - DIY or....

We sell that print head all over the country and to many customers who install it themselves. The process is pretty straight forward and, as long as you take your time and make sure the printer is completely discharged before working on it, you can install it without worrying about damaging the...
  5. What Printheads Does the Mutoh Prismjet Extra 38 Use?

Epson DX2. Epson no longer makes them so whatever is out there is what is left. Mimaki has long stopped stocking them and Roland ran out last year. Mutoh still has them in stock for $737 and we can get them for you. Once they run out, you will only be able to find them from people who happen to...
  6. CJV30-160 -- ERROR 202 -- Help!!!

Most likely, there is ink in the terminal where the cables plug into the print head. I would clean everything as well as you can and check the terminals to see if they have ink in them. You can try to clean the terminals out but most likely you fried the head. Normally error 202 happens if you...
  7. 60" Mutoh Falcon EcoSolvent outdoor or 54" 1304?

I know I sound like a broken record but stay away from anything that has Falcon in the name. The Falcon Outdoor printers use 2 DX2 heads that were never meant for solvent in the first place and the heads are no longer manufactured. I can get you the DX2 heads for $737 a piece if they are still...
  8. Crazy issue with Rasterlink 5 SG and Mimaki CJV

Are you cutting straight from FineCut or Rasterlink? If you are cutting from Rasterlink I have noticed if the RIP data doesn't save it takes away the cut option. All you have to do is RIP only and once the file has been RIPed the cut options should be available again.
  9. mutoh 1624 and flexi 10

Flexi 10.5 added the 1324 and 1624 printers. It was a free upgrade when it came out but I don't think you can download it anymore from Flexi. I happen to have the install files for 10.5. PM me with your email and I can send them to you. As long as your password and dongle are legit, there should...
  10. mimaki jv3-160sp just reads cartridge kkmmccyy

When you refilled the machine did it ask what kind of ink you were using? You may have hit the wrong option and it is looking for a different ink type. I can't remember if the JV3s had other ink set options but the new printers let you choose between solvent/aqueous, SS21, ES3 etc. before you...
  11. mimaki jv3-160sp just reads cartridge kkmmccyy

Hit enter a few times in local mode and it will cycle through any ink issues. You may see something like this on the screen: Ink Not Original kkmmccyy or No Cartridge kkmmccyy or Expired Ink kkmmccyy
  12. CJV30-160 Is not contour cutting prints over 72"

Make sure you are using the recommended registration mark size. When you create the reg marks using FineCut, the window that pops up should say something like "Recommended registration size". If your marks are too small, the machine has a lot harder time being accurate. The longer the print, the...
  13. Mimaki clogged nozzle: good cleaning trick or stupid idea?

Check the bottom of the print head for scratches and/or other damage. The JV3s have a problem with the cap top assembly where the screws slowly rise over time and scrape the bottom of the head. If that is the case, you need a new head and capping station. I usually recommend replacing the round...
  14. Do I require a new K head?

I have definitely seen people print with worse. If it is an older head (3 years +) it is probably just starting to fail and/or you have had a couple nasty head strikes that are catching up to you. If you can't live with the print quality the last resort is flushing the head but be prepared for...
  15. HELP for SP540V

I can't think of any way to lift the roller up without tripping the sensor but I have run into the same situation you are in. Usually you can just let the roller run off he media and, as long as the print doesn't have too much left to print, it should be fine. If you have a lot left to print...
  16. Mimaki JV3-160SP, exact specs?

All JV3 160SP printers will take 64" material and will print to a maximum of 63.38" give or take a couple 1/10". Mimaki did an upgrade to the dampers after the printers were released which is why you had to check what size dampers you needed. They started out with small dampers and upgraded to...
  17. JV5 what's your thoughts?

The JV5's fastest speed is 624 sq.ft/hr and requires 4 print heads priced around $2400 each and 32 dampers. The Mutoh ValueJet 1324's fastest speed is 565 sq.ft/hr and only uses one (newer generation) print head ($2800) and 4 dampers. You can get a brand new ValueJet with a warranty for close...
  18. jv3 130spll - head cutter broke...hard to replace?

I have the OEM replacement blade in stock for $46. Feel free to call if you would like to order: 303-733-6671
  19. New printer not supported in my version of Flexi

The 1324 will not work in older versions of Flexi and there is no work around. Even if you somehow got it working with a 1304 driver, you would not be able to utilize the faster speeds of the 1324 due to profile and print head incompatibility. Check to see if your plotter has an Illustrator or...
  20. Are the JV3 SP and SPII main boards backwards compatible with the S models?

No they are not. The S series main board is missing a row of transistors. Even if you were able to boot up somehow, it would only fire 3 heads out of the 4. Edit: Just re-read the question and realized you are going from the 4 head to a 3 head. It may work but I still think the cable...
