I discovered this method 17 years ago. In this case, having a temper when small letters didn't weed well, for the win.

I use the lower right corner, also. You can change it by using the FUNCTION key and going to SETUP > ORGN SELECT and then pick where to start. Maybe that is your problem, that you are using a different corner than the machine is expecting.
