  1. opinions on plotter tracking

I wonder if they are insinuating that your knife pressure is too high and it is fighting against the rollers? That's kind of a weird request... Some models have wheels that taper and push down and to the side, and that's supposed to eliminate the need for a middle wheel. Having said that, I...
  2. Blank lines in print

you may also want to check and see if the profile Arlon supplied is indeed for that exact media. Gloss versus Matte
  3. Blank lines in print

try a profile with less ink, or use a little more heat? Your media comp looks good but the ink doesn't seem to spread. You could also try adjusting the feed rate while printing to dial it in for this particular print. While printing; hit "function" and in there you will see the media comp...

  5. Laminating Issues

I have a the same laminator in the 42" version and use it only for laminating 150' at a time. Starting at the printer, I make sure that my media is not telescoped at all, and attached to a take up core as squarely as humanly possible. After that, I end up with a print that is centered on the...
  6. mounting with laminator issue?

if your using a 40" laminator to mount a 24" print onto board, the board and print should be centered. That leaves 16" (8" on each side.) You could take 8" material of the same thickness and run it through at the same time to help even things out.
  7. Problem with Convex

never done it myself below the waterline, but perhaps an edge-seal pen would help out. Good Luck!
  8. take up spooler

wandering media make sure that the roll of media on the feed side is wound tightly and not telescoped. The feed roll, platen & pinch wheels, and the take up core must be parallel, and everything square. The cut on your media might not be perfectly square, so you can't rely on that edge to get...

  10. White and Metallic Inks VS540

I've tried white and metallic on 3 different solvent inkjets and was not pleased with any of them in regard to opacity of the white, along with the need to agitate some of the white cartridges. (Roland does it automatically.) There is extra machine maintenance when using white ink beyond what is...

Have had success with the Convex material Pat supplied a link to above.
  12. Brighter Orange

another variable that can influence final output is the white point of your substrate. Some white vinyls are cooler or warmer than others depending on how they are manufactured. Is it raster or vector art? You may be able to easily change some of the color values in a copy of the original file...
  13. Brighter Orange

your customer is saying that the provided file looks better on his monitor than your print does? What color space was it made in?
  14. Learning the DC4SX

...AND, as FrankW offered, I am working with material that is definitely not typical for printing- thermal resin or solvent inkjet. It looks cool, so I'm trying to make it work. I print the same file on regular white vinyl and it comes out perfect.
  15. Learning the DC4SX

I have set the density relatively low and the defect disappears, but the some colors look faded. I set the density relatively high, and ended up breaking the ribbon... but I also went into service mode and made some adjustments that were a little out of my technical scope. Everything is back to...
  16. roller marks in print

I forgot to mention that you will need to set your vacuum to high on the Mimaki if you are going to raise the rollers. The Roland's rollers are slightly conical, so the can push down and out to hold the media flat.
  17. roller marks in print

middle rollers the heat is probably the cause on certain materials. However, you can raise the middle rollers on a Mimaki by removing the springs in the back and using adhesive tape to then hold them in the "up" position. Good Luck!
  18. Learning the DC4SX

Just got a DC4SX. Great machine, but I am still learning how to run it. I am getting some defects when I print large fields of any solid spot color on an exotic substrate. When using 3M Premium Cast White, the print is perfect. The defect is a series of crescent shaped lines that grow in number...
  19. Son scammed by Fillipino for $400

That's despicable. Maybe your Internet Service Provider or the company you purchased your Security Software from can offer you advice. It would be great to get your problem fixed...even better to "fix" the person who is invading your privacy and stealing from you. Good Luck to you!
