  1. Sticker Calculator?

In VersaWorks 6, the ink consumption is under "Job Properties" on the right side of the "Preview window". I find it also very helpful to have the "Status Bar" showing - it is just along the bottom but it shows total length of a job too, which is handy.
  2. Cutter tapping and missing in spots

All the suggestions above are awesome, I would also suggest a tiny bit of oil on the blade to make sure it's rotating smoothly as it's cutting, otherwise sometimes curves end up "skipping" over the surface. Just one little drop of 3-in-1 oil in the tip (unscrew it, remove the blade, and put...
  3. Question Roland XR-640 print quality

Glad to hear this worked! It's getting awfully cold here too these last few days, so I'll have to remember this for myself too.
  4. Question Roland XR-640 print quality

Has the printhead been left on the high setting? It only really makes a difference for smaller edges, but I'm not sure the size of this print. We usually print Gen II if we're not using the proper media profile; however I don't think this is a media profile issue. Not sure where you live, but...
  5. Rear window perf on pick up truck- laminated or unlaminated, what do you do?

Optically clear laminate for sure. No water in the holes. But yeah, we get a few calls about doing truck perfs and the clients are clearly expecting the amazon prime price, not the laminated price.
  6. Can you Identify this font??

WOW that is some curly wurly vinyl
  7. Inside your retail shop, lobby or customer area

We have a table right beside our entrance which we meet with guests and also have meetings/lunch at. We've got an open studio space because it's small, so guests will see the printer running. Corroplast, foamcore, sintra and wall vinyl around the office, some floor/table graphics. We've got all...
  8. Roland SG-540 Does not recognize new ink cartridge

Alternatively, we've had the occasional new ink cartridge not recognize, and our Roland tech suggested we gently scuff up the contact on the cartridge and try again. However, if all of your magenta carts are not reading, it seems like it's not a cartridge problem but a mechanical one.
  9. Need Help PNG's

If it's large enough, you can always throw that baby in a .pdf to print it. .PNG is an odd format - they can save huge, they support transparency, and they're decent, as raster files go at least - but they're almost always delivered teensy tiny because they're mainly used for web and online...
  10. Can anyone give me an oppinion bad prints

We had that "color mixing into the wrong space" problem on our test prints, and we needed new caps. Not sure if that applies here, but that was what we needed.
  11. HEAD STRIKES, HEAD STRIKES, HEAD STRIKES

Agree with this a lot - we had head strikes when I first started, but now we give it a little give on the back as well as make 10000% percent sure it's feeding as straight as possible; the roll is rolled as evenly as possible, etc. Made sure the media was fed out a little in front if there are...
  12. HEAD STRIKES, HEAD STRIKES, HEAD STRIKES

Menu? Wait for the carriage? I've never been shown that - we've only ever just reached out hand way in there and flicked the lever.
  13. What is this mess?

Looks like raster artifacts hanging out around the edges.
  14. Inventory Control

For Roland users, at least for our XR-640, we can plug in the length left on a roll before a job, and print a tiny memo on the corner of it when we're all done, ready to set it for the next time. This only works if you remember to do it each time... but if you're consistent about it you'll have...
  15. New to the forums !

Hey from Halifax! Glad to have you.
  16. Need Help Blemishes in Prints

Have you tried using a smaller piece of media as opposed to off a roll? I'm wondering if the blemishes are coming from the way the media is being fed or from like, some sort of mechanical problem the head is encountering. It looks so oily, as if there's something dripping.. :(
  17. Better Ink for Roland RF640

I prefer the OEM EcoSol2... however we've used RiteMedia stuff and it's fine. The only thing I find frustrating is the RM cartridges sometimes read as "empty" halfway though a print and I have to give them a good shake/rough-up the contact, they're just not as good as the OEM cartridges. But...
  18. Wishing Everyone here....Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey Day to you folks celebrating south of the border! I hope it's full of good food. And traditionally football, right?
  19. Is Mimaki Better Than Roland?

We've only used Roland, but I know a lot of folks who are happy with their Mimaki. Yes you can cut then print with Roland, though I've never found the use for that.
  20. White on transparant for small labels

We run a Roland XR-640 without white, and we have to outsource this kind of thing to local printers that have the white capabilities. We get so very few people asking for this product that it wouldn't make any sense and buying the machines for it would never pay for themselves... how many labels...
