  1. Is it too risky to buy SP540 that doesn't print?

Your Local Roland rep can def get you the VW software if you provide the serial and dont BS them. I think the price is a bit high, esp if heads are needed. I hope not though and if a good cleaning can get it to work, you did get a good deal...its a gamble, but good luck! -hoppers
  2. New Daige Quickmount Laminators?

Anyone know the cost uptick these new models will run compared to the 4 series? Im looking to buy a lam'er soon too.
  3. Thinking About Buying XC-540

Hmm I would wait it out maybe? Or look to buy a lightly used demo? I have heard Rolands prices might be going up (or already did) so that might be the reason along with the depreciation in the CDN
  4. Thinking About Buying XC-540

Equals about 30K in USD I think? That is right about MSRP on rolands site for this machine, I think you can get it lower in price unless the price is due to customs etc? Either way it is coming into the USA or Canada from overseas....so I would think you maybe can get some $$$ off.
  5. Print head speed on a SP-540V

No the VP is faster as it has 4 print heads compared to 2 in the SP. I dont thinkthe VP is blazing compared to the SP, but like 30% or so faster then the SP.
  6. Roland Color Swatches and Versaworks...

Awesome, thanks for the tips and screenshot!
  7. Proven media for the SP300V?

Cant say there is a "proven" media since these printers print on so many different types. Just stick with the big name brands (no off name brand chinese imports) and you should be fine. Decals, intermediate signs in general etc - I love Oracal 3651 with matching 210 laminate. Its good...
  8. Help getting started, looking to buy stuff.

Haha I love it when Fred is so serious (he is an admin, its part of the job) and then makes a funny and throws that crazy furbie thing in. I laugh every time...really, I do. :) Ps - Gino weeding em out works for me, I trust him much more then a peon "10 poster" (not that Im that far away!)...
  9. Roland Color Swatches and Versaworks...

I'm not using it on my Roland and Im going home tonight and figuring out what it really is! I remember reading about it and my reds really dont pop as well either....this does sound like the cure! But is the documentation on how to do this in the VW manual or somewhere else? I forget where...
  10. Just bought a sp300v!!

Man that stinks to hear... But I thought (and could be wrong) is that the older SP300 just had newer pumps, dampeners (and a few other things) put in to handle the new eco-sol ink since I thought it came out when these printers were being sold. Im sure some Roland SP300 veterns can chime...
  11. Daige Quickmount 38"

Big squeegee is the answer! I tried a daige and it is tough, but heard once ya master them - they arent as bad as people say. But I see a lot of "barely used" Daiges for sale and that is what scares me. I will stick with my Big squeegee for now....
  12. should i quit?

Hey I resemble that remark! haha, "crusty but talented" I think is a very good term for us. Instead of signs 101, how about crustybuttalentedsignadvice .com? ha
  13. 30 inch printer???

This has to be an F'in joke. People PLEASE quit responding to these idiot noobs. All of a sudden people are feeling sorry for bashing newbies for asking idiot questions and trying to be nice and they do stuff like this. I still think it is a joke, Fred/Stacey - please ban this guy for not...
  14. Ink & Service ?

Ditto....the cents difference isnt worth it to me. Unless you truly have a firm grasp on the machine inside and out. not doubting aftermarket ink since a lot of people use them, but not worth the hassle if you ask me. Like buying a Porsche and putting in regular gas (87)..theres gonna be...
  15. Windows 7

  16. Windows 7

haha "New coke" - that product was a joke! ;) Oh and dont forget Windows ME - that OS hosed me more times then I would have liked to remember! Glad W7 is getting good reviews from top sources and normal day to day users. Wonder how much the upgrade will be from Vista? ;)
  17. Windows 7

Got it Tech - I gotcha since Im clearly just basing on some things I read, so I hope W7 is the new, true Windows that is great... but was more just saying, Im pleasantly surprised with how well Vista has treated me the past 2+ years and know of a few others like me. I was very scared going...

  19. Windows 7

I wonder if the OP is actually using and running Vista or just trashing it? I know it came out to a low of bad press and had its issues...but honestly (I hope I’m not jinxing myself here) - I like Vista....it has been quite stable for me on two machines. One I bought with it 2 years ago when...
