    MY sp540 is dead on. I had to adjust the feed and scan when we first got it and it has been good since.

    I noticed when cutting my cuts were off because of too much pressure and not enough pinch rollers. So you might check to see if you have as many in as possible for the material you are cutting and that you are not using to much down force.

    There is a self print test and cut test in the menu. The thermal print head is about 800 bucks so make sure you do a print test as well.

    When we first started looking around I found a Roland PC600 on Ebay for 500 bucks in Dallas. I asked the lady if the machine was in good condition and she said it was. I told her I wanted it and that I had to test the machine before I left her place. So, 4 hours to Dallas and into a hot a$$...
