Check the C4131 and A1746 transistors. Replace fuses F2 or F3 if blown

First test print looked like a cable issue. They are cheap enough so just replace them if you can. Check both F2 and F3 fuses and replace if necessary. One will be blown. Check resistance the C4131 and A1746 transistors. Double check cables seated properly and power it up. Get the compressor...

If the capping station height isn't adjusted correctly, the carriage wont be pulled across enough for the heads to be aligned. Follow instructions on page 151

The two guides either side of the capping station will automatically align the heads..Is you captop installed correctly?

Spend the $500 for a new head and keep hold of it..They were the work horse that purchased many a home and vehicle. Its a cutter as well and is still the best for making stickers.. Leave it sitting in the corner all day with a roll in it and full of inks, they never miss a beat.

Had you supplied this at the start of the thread, poor ole mate with the printer wouldn't be stressing out...Doesn't look good for a PRO problem solver, but goes to show your worth..

They are a fixed printhead.. The VG series uses the GH2220 head which is fitted to its own carrier unlike a dx4 head

Perhaps you could enlighten us how to adjust a ricoh printhead manually?

They look right to me.They print slightly staggered in testprint. Do a further alignment test before adjusting anything.

Good lesson learnt???, been there, done that, got the tee shirt, let the next fool find out???
