  1. Hey I am Rob the printer from va

Are you talking about the cores? (The tubes the material is wrapped onto?)
  2. poster printing materials

Haven't printed any paper in quite some time, but I can say I am a fan of DuraSol (all three thicknesses). I've yet to have it not turn out a nice looking posters.
  3. Potential Problem with Magnetics

I'm pretty sure it's the clear coat of the paint that's getting milky- not anything on the magnet. Of course, I could be wrong.
  4. Potential Problem with Magnetics

It almost sounds to me as if the customer isn't letting the car dry completely before putting the magnets back on. The remaining water behind them dries under the magnet and leaves a "film".
  5. Font help

    Agreed.

  8. Font ID

Pretty sure JHill was right with the first one- it's Bank Gothic.
  9. Recycling Your Waste

You might ask your local municipality about recycling banner material. After all, it is a type of plastic. We recycle whatever we can, but banner material- not so much. We just don't enough banners to warrant the space needed.
  10. What type of customer File is Best to ask for?

I'd say it depends on what you're doing with the file. PDF is often the easiest, but I've seen some things (shadows, gradients, sometimes even fonts) get lost because the file wasn't prepped correctly. (Yes, that can happen with any file.) For anything requiring a machine cut (channel or other...
  11. Most Used Sign Shop Tools

If you're focusing on graphics, I'd say plotter, printer, laminator, good sign program (Flexi, Signlab, whatever) to drive what needs it. As for construction, we build our cabinets in-house. For vacuum forming, we use local sources. A Google search will show you plenty in your area.
  12. Most Used Sign Shop Tools

What kind of signs do you plan on making? That would go a long way towards determining what would be the most-used tool. For example, if you do strictly graphics- a printer, plotter, and laminator would be your workhorses. Marketing signs? Toss in a panel saw and a circular saw to cut 4" x 4"s...
  13. 1 inch vertical stripe in print what would cause this?

It's not a media issue. Again, speaking from experience, it's the pinch rollers doing that. The 1624 has them all the way across, too. They get dirty and that's the result. Sometimes the solution is as simple as cleaning them. Sometimes, it's necessary to replace them. Replacing ours completely...
  14. Best method?

I concur with the wet application, though I would suggest getting one of the squeegees that the guys who do window tinting use. Mine has a plastic handle with a firm (not hard) urethane blade. Cost me eight or nine bucks on Amazon. I have found it makes wet apps so much easier.
  15. 1 inch vertical stripe in print what would cause this?

We had a similar issue a while back. Cleaning the pinch rollers helped. Replacing them completely eliminated the problem.
  16. Need Flexi Sign Program

You can still buy the program. Amiable has not (for the time being, anyway) gone the Adobe route and made the program subscription only. Might be a good idea to burn your own disc of the installer and any needed license files, though.
  17. Half Block Font

It looks like a distorted version of Machine to me.
  18. Printed Acrylic exterior Business Sign Plaque Question

If you're worried about acrylic cracking, I certainly wouldn't use PVC. Polycarbonate would be a better option, if you're set on a second surface print. Otherwise, as others mentioned, aluminum with a first surface print.
  19. Reminded me of................................

One of my previous employers had more than one customer who owed them somewhere north of $20,000- and they kept doing work for them. I asked the owner why he "let them slide" and his (to me, idiotic) response was "I don't want to lose the business." Wait, what? You don't want to lose a customer...
  20. Where to buy these changeable letters?

My guess would be Wagner (http://www.wagnerzip.com/), because they certainly look to be screen printed and die cut. The bend makes me wonder, though.
