  1. New edge test prints flawless lines in print from flexisign??

I remember Omega as being quiet the P.I.T.A. if you were doing anything other than EDGE printing. And I never had much trouble getting Flexi to do what I wanted it to do as far as EDGE prints, but that's probably because I hated Omega enough to figure it out.
  2. Best Judgement for Interstate-side Signage

I was always told letters should be 1" tall for every 10' away you want to be able to read them at road speed (or something along those lines), so- if the sign ends up 50' off the interstate, you want the copy to be a minimum of 5" tall to be legible, and the copy needs to be in an easily...
  3. Would I benefit by puttting in a SSD drive in my five year old computer?

By no means am I an expert, but it's my understanding that SSD drives are very beneficial as main drives (i.e., programs open faster, etc.) since the seek/read time is so accelerated compared to standard platter drives. I think that speed benefit is almost always worth it.
  4. What is the goofiest thing a customer has said to/requested of you?

Along these lines, the DF signs with the arrow pointing "up". And then, they don't understand why you're asking them which way the arrow's supposed to be pointing on the obverse. "Up, just like the front." "So, you're sending them in the opposite direction from the front?" "Huh?"
  5. Butting plastic panels together

Not sure what that would be, but- if you have a router, I'd suggest doing an overlap seam of 1/2"-1". Do 1/2 the depth of the material on each side and there should be minimal (if any) difference in light coming through the seam compared to the rest of the panel. Have always found this works...
  6. Double sided banner troubles

I try to stay away from double-sided, if only because I can print two and put them together quicker than doing a true double-sided one. When doing them with pole pockets I print a long, continuous print of the banners so, when folded in the middle, they end up back to back. I use VHB along the...
  7. pinstripe or cut vinyl

I wouldn't cut a thin stripe, myself. Solid blue, solid silver/grey, solid black- applied in that order. Cuts down on possible failure points.
  8. Using spot colours with transparency

This, with maybe the spot color as a separate layer on top?
  9. Looking for advice...

Thank rturner. I'll give them a try and see what they suggest.
  10. Hand painted helmets

I don't come here to feel feelings! :P Seriously, though- that's some nice work.
  11. Using spot colours with transparency

Perhaps if you made the silver your base coat for that area?
  12. Do you care if your suppliers become your competitors?

I've never seen a Samsung or Microsoft store- but Best Buy deserves to go out of business.
  13. Looking for advice...

We have a customer that has 40'+/- mesh banners hanging from their parking deck. There are pole pockets at the top and bottom, along with pockets every 10' +/- where other poles help hold them. They were installed in October of 2013. The customer seems to think the banners should last longer...
  14. Hexis HX30000 impressions

    That's awesome.
  15. Window Vinyl, Sign Permits and Customers Service

The first sign shop I worked in had to worry about making sure which permits were required, as there were not only city ordinances, but county and historic district regs, too. They were quite arbitrary and, sometimes, contrary to one another. But, I'm squarely in the "get a permit if it needs a...
  16. Window Frosting – Help! Need Some Info / Insight

I'm not familiar with that brand, but if it's anything like similar Avery, 3M or Arlon vinyls, you should be just fine as they work fine in interior uses (unless I'm mistaken, that looks like a mall-type setting, so you won't get much as UV degradation). I'm sure over time the...
  17. Happens too often...

Makes you want to smack 'em, doesn't it? Too bad people so often ignore the experts. Nice work on the proposed one. (Also, damn you, Daimler, for putting that ginormous black line down those things!)
  18. Oh Em Gee!

And everything running downhill towards the rear is an... um... "interesting" effect, too.
  19. Wrong ID - Any help

The bottom line is Humanist 521 Light, according to my PostScript Typeface library (and my poor eyesight). Banks is hard to tell, but it's either Humanist 521 Bold or 531 Black.
