I didn't know it came in a non HTAP version... maybe I'm using the wrong stuff.
Just looked at Grimco... very good chance I'm not using the HTAP. Someone once upon a time told me GF201 was HTAP. I was unaware it had multiple versions! Grrrrrr
Onyx added a bunch of good features at version 12. I'm still running 11 here, but I know 12 added a lot of color management features and more functionality for nesting (and of course there's been ver 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 since 12)
ABC knows his stuff. I have Pitstop but I haven't used it much on the large format side. We predominately use it here for preflighting so I know there's plenty of things it can do that we're not using it for.
I would say it depends on the RIP. I have 3 machines, one running Onyx, one running Rasterlink and one running Fiery XF. Raster and XF (actually the printer interface, not XF specifically) give me ink estimates before printing, Onyx does not but I can pull the usage log from the web interface of...
we've been doing them like jasonx as well, weeding out the camera marks prior to cutting. Just need to make sure the mask sticks down good in the corners on the master sheet.
what DON'T you find inconsistent from 4over? I've had all kinds of color issues, overprint issues, flood UV coating that's uneven across the sheets, poor cutting (from being visually off, all the way to half my art and half whoever's art was next to it), spot UV horribly out of register. They...
run them dry... if I'm not going to be near the machine or letting something run overnight I'll swap it til I get back. If it runs out mid-job, it'll make a fuss and you've got 15 min or so to swap the ink before it aborts the job (someone else said 30... so I'm not certain on the timeout).
We only use the light when we're trimming out/weeding white vinyl which makes it far easier to see.
I've noticed static predominantly on plastic materials (PVC, polystyrene, plastic faced ultraboard) but foamcore and coroplast don't cause much if any. You'll learn where to touch to ground...
we have a CWT... it's a real workhorse. Depending on how much cutting you're doing on the table, you'll probably get 12-24 months on the mat. They're supposed to be flippable but ours wouldn't stick when we tried to flip it (maybe we had too much usage on the one side). At 24 months, ours is...
I've seen similar stuff on the Duratex in the past... still get it occasionally. I normally used MAC Papers' house brand vinyl (under the Argent line), not sure who makes that but I haven't had any issues with it. Ultraflex I've run as well but not through my HP (no reason I haven't but all the...
I've had that issue on a random bit of coro (2-4 signs out of ~30 signs, run 10up) in the middle of a run. I use a product called AP2155 by Supply55 to clean dirty boards which is also an adhesion promoter and it seems to work pretty well (possibly better adhesion than when I'm using "clean"...
yet another reason I'm still using CM3. CM4 also is not yet compatible with Illustrator 2020. If you're using Creative Cloud for your Illustrator, you can install older versions in addition to your current one. I have both 2017 (for CM3) and 2020 loaded. Not fond of 2020 yet since they've made...
