  1. Man, House Industry fonts are a rip off!

I love their fonts, but have never been able to afford one. What p!ssed me off one time was I got a realllly fugly logo file from a "designer" who had no idea about converting to curves. It was like pulling teeth to get her to send me the outlines for a very small sign job. I was so envious...
  2. New Business Logo

I agree with Gino's critique. The script, while retro, is a retro 40s/50s "S" with the rest in an older style script. It has the illusion of an uphill slant, too. The shadow effect on the top left is just weird. I think the best option of what you have would be the bottom right, but I...
  3. Gerber GS-15Plus Bail Arm Sticky

What I did when mine did this was cut a length of glass etch vinyl (because it has a bit of a "tooth" and is not slippy as we say in Pittsburgh) about 1" wide and as long as the arm. I applied it very carefully, lifting up the arm like you do when you are loading vinyl. You have to make sure...
  4. Happy Thanksgiving All!

Thank you, Fred, and right back atcha. Love....Jill :loveya:

Layout is better (better prioritization of copy) but I really dislike the fonts (I never did like the 50% off one because it reminds me of Arial) and it would look better with a black outline on the copy. Or just make the the lettering in red...you can get away with it on the white. ...by the...
  6. Painting in the cold question...

1-Shot used to be the best. It's not anymore. The formula was changed many times. Supposedly there is a new batch out that doesn't fade or chalk up, but I'll believe it when I see it. And I have 30 years experience.
  7. Your first shop when you started.

The basement of a small house in the suburbs, two rickety saw horses, craft store brushes, and a can of black Rustoleum. And an 18 month old. Within 3 months I had progressed to two cans of 1 Shot. That was 1985. Love....Jill

...for the love of God (or contrast, or non-clashing, or even me) PLEASE lose the red outlines.
  9. Painting in the cold question...

Those are not as bad as the one that you first posted. You're going to have to make a pattern from the cleanest logo you can find and go from there.
  10. Painting in the cold question...

Something similar to this quick suggestion.
  11. Oilboard Stencils

Why bother with a plotter? Just cut it with an X-Acto knife (I'd use a small snap-off one) Draw a simple design and cut away. Love....Jill
  12. Painting in the cold question...

Oh, hell, that thing isn't even worth saving. I'd make a new pounce pattern and redo it in a less graffiti-like way. The method Gino described is this: Clean the wall, go over the design using a sharpie. Paint over it with Ronan Block-Out white primer. Hopefully the sharpie will belled...

That looks so much cleaner to me, Tiki. :loveya:
  14. Decals on a toy mixer

$50 was my first thought too. Even if you're tempted to, do not do it for free. Love....Jill

    There ya go!
  16. Painting in the cold question...

...I would not use 1 Shot at all (supposedly they are reformulating it and I hope they do) It fades and gets chalky real fast. I'd suggest Ronan. (available via N Glantz) Novacolours are good too, but because they are water-based I am not sure how they'd work in the cold and damp. While you...

...it's because of the red. Of this last bunch, I'd have to go with the one on the right.
  18. Cheap budget logo design critique

Put the grasshopper, t!ts and all, under that ribbon. The shape of the ribbon at the bottom doesn't "go with" anything. You could also flip the shape of the ribbon to kind of visually finish off the bottom of the shape. Love....Jill

#4, bring all the elements in tighter together (more breathing space around the edges) and what the heck, add a few sparkles from the hands. I like losing the red outlines all together. Lose the sunburst effect on the bottom or make it consistent with the top.
  20. Logo Design Critique

I would make the font all the same, and the same size. I'd lose the lines above the O, as almost everyone knows what a phone is and does. Maybe make the cross in burgundy? You could also try skewing it just slightly. Love....Jill
