  1. Roland VersaUV prints yellow stripe on all

Forgot to ask as well, are the other colours printing normally?
  2. Roland VersaUV prints yellow stripe on all

Your yellow head is getting a faulty signal not telling it when to turn off. Normally this is a blown transistor on the main board ( these control the on and off signals to the head ). The other cause could be a fault print carriage board. Sometimes it can be down to a faulty head cable, but...

I agree on your point. It amazes me how many people who run 'sign businesses' can't really do anything other than pretty basic text layout and don't really have any design skills. To me they are both part of the same business. And yes, part of our job is to look at artwork and tell the customer...
  4. Sp300i Cutting Problem

It doesn't seem to be a software problem them if that isn't fixing it. It is most likely a problem with the cutting head then, sometimes if the solenoid is failing it can miss parts of the cut as the head doesn't lower when it should, but then does for the rest of the cut. Either that or the cut...
  5. VS540 Heat Settings on Platen uneven on the right and the left sides

They can vary a bit, but if its a big difference it sounds like a problem. There are a few reasons, it can be the heater control board isn't sending a signal to the heater on that side. Or the heater strip has failed. It could also be the thermistor is faulty so the printer isn't getting a...
  6. Rant Customer Rant

DIY artwork is the worst. The amount of times someone sends over a low res small jpeg then says they want it printed 6 feet wide. 'But it looks ok on my computer screen, why can't you print at that size....'
  7. Roland Versacam CAD cutting decals

I agree, it is probably time to replace the complete pinch roller assemblies. The frames can crack, but also the springs can weaken over time leading to a loss of grip. There are normally used ones for sale on Ebay. Avoid the cheap chinese copies as the quality is nowhere near as good as the...
  8. How many people here recreate fonts?

I reckon the AI will do everything in comic sans or brush script just to mess with us and show us who is in control !
  9. Switch from CMYK to 6 colors (ValueJet 426)

Change the tubes! Even removing the old colour ink will probably leave enough in there to tint the white ink, and its too expensive to be wassting
  10. Marketing White Ink

Needing to use white is a bit of a specialist area really. If its not the sort of thing your company do, or are likely to do, then remove it from the printer. There is no point wasting money on ink you aren't using. Yes, it is useful for people who have a use for it, but if not its a PITA with...
  11. Rant Customer Rant

Good luck with that. Companies like sticker mule will just print them out 20,000 copies of the label from whatever artwork is sent, so the customer will probably end up with something unusable and not looking how they expected. Yes, they can be good but they are cheap for a reason. They won't...
  12. Rant Customer Rant

It really depends how much the job is worth ( and lets bet they won't pay their invoice on time either ! ). Lots of companies are useless like this though, they outsource the design to another company, that gets sent back to one department, then sent to another to approve, then they get quotes...
  13. How many people here recreate fonts?

That is fine when you know what the font is or can find it. I was talking about those jobs you get where you cant identify it
  14. Roland SP300v Printing Grainy

For the head soak, don't use a coffee filter. Clamp the drain hose and fill the capping station with cleaning fluid and that will be fine. Coffee filters could have fibres in them that get clogged in the nozzles and make it worse. The small nozzle check looks ok. You definitely need to go...
  15. Need Help Print problem Roland BN-20

And a nozzle test like that would account for the lines in the black on the test print
  16. Need Help Print problem Roland BN-20

That looks as though you may have something on the surface of the head. Check this and see if it has picked up something on there
  17. Need Help Print problem Roland BN-20

IIRC with the BN20 it will print once from each head, so if you only have one magenta cartridge connected it will only print one column on the test
  18. Need Help Print problem Roland BN-20

Do a test print in service mode, you need to see if the small nozzles are firing properly as well ( the normal test print only uses the large nozzles )
  19. Need Help Print problem Roland BN-20

Where is the magenta line missing as the test print looks ok from the pic you posted?
  20. Need Help Print problem Roland BN-20

Epson test the heads by printing with a water based ink. They then put a magenta coloured solution in to them that protects the heads while being stored, so that is probably what you are seeing. Are you getting magenta ink to the head where the print is missing?
