  1. Need Help Squeaking VS-640

Do one thing at a time - . You can try a little white lithium grease on the gear after cleaning off the old grease, or 3 in 1 oil on the pulley, but more often I find it's the motor that makes the noise. If it's the motor, just replace it. If oiling the pulley reduces the noise, plan on...
  2. Gerber Model GSi 78

I've been a Gerber dealer for more than 30 years and haven't heard of that. It must be from one of their other divisions.
  3. Just In Wanted to extend to y'all....................................

Thank-you Gino. My best to everyone on here.
  4. Flexi Question

Have you tried using copy>paste or step and repeat? I'm on version 19 and the duplicate function sets the new object just a little up and a little to the right. If I remember correctly that was a feature enhancement a while back. I don't really use duplicate too much, so I don't remember...
  5. Suggestions Pen options for the D160

It's hard to tell without knowing what the exact media is. Can you get a holder for a Sharpie Pen? I know Graphtec has them for their plotters. And I've seen some customers just wrap enough tape around a sharpie so that the pen holder will grab it solidly. Good Luck
  6. VersaWorks gradient changes from red/yellow to green/black???

Not sure on this one. I opened it up in VW6 and printed on my VG2 and it looks great. I'm loading the original VW on my computer so I can at least see what the preview does - I won't be able to print out of Versaworks though. I'll let you know what I find out.
  7. How long the Roland BN20 be out of power?

Don't leave the fluid in. Get out as much as possible. You don't want it to leak out while in transit.
  8. Help in Communication from Gerber software to New CE6000 60 plus

Or you could try the generic HPGL driver as well. Just make sure you set your language on the plotter to HPGL.
  9. Need Help Squeaking VS-640

Does the sound travel with the head, or is it stationary at one end or the other? Clean the bearing rail with isopropyl alcohol and add a drop of 3 in 1 oil and both sides of the carriage and move it back and forth by hand a few times (if you turn off the machine, you can move the carriage out...
  10. Still printing red.... new profile helped a little, still red though

You should also calibrate after replacing the heads.
  11. Roland RS-640 What is causing this shifting

The encoder sensors rarely go bad in my experience. There should be no physical contact with them and the power supplied to them is generally steady. There's an LED on one side and a light sensor on the other side. If you don't have your encoder strip centered between the two arms, it can rub...
  12. Shrinking Material causing failures

I only swim in warm water to avoid shrinkage:p
  13. Matthews Paint Last Outdoors

Basecoat paint doesn't generally have as much body as a 1 coat paint. I think it's more of an auto industry technique. It's been years since my Matthews training and I haven't painted since, but if I recall correctly, you can use Matthews as a true base coat clear coat system. I just can't...
  14. Suggestions Roland SP-300V is the capping station adjustable?

Jim, you probably won't find a capping station. In over 10 years, I've never replaced one. I would be surprised if one exists. The only time I've had to adjust one was when I dropped a screw below or behind it. We only replace cap tops, cap top springs and occasionally a pump. There is a cap...
  15. Onyx Thrive making a margin or gutter... Any ideas??

I think that printer also has onboard settings for a stripe. Look on the printer menu. It gets save to the preset. (It's been years since I've sold Seiko printers, so my terminology may have been "Rolandized" but the idea is there.)
  16. Sucking air, Leeking dx4 manifold ??

The only time I tried a non OEM manifold it sucked! (Air mostly, but the whole situation did as well).
  17. Question UV of Laminate vs UV of Substrate - effect on UV Overall?

Let me preface this with the fact that I've been out of the media side of this business for some time, but somethings don't change so I'll give my input anyway... Laminates do a couple of things... If designed to do so (and not all are) they will inhibit the UV radiation that gets through them...
  18. service call 0121 thermistor

Get it from your local Roland dealer.
  19. Need Help XR-640 unexpected colour issues

Another thought (since this popped up again)... You might try upgrading to VersaWorks 6 (and make sure that you load the latest update and using the True Rich Color setting. This is new to Versaworks 6 and, in my mind anyway, kind of combines the color accuracy of the Pre Press settings with...
  20. Suggestions Cross contamination SP-300V

I've seen this with cap tops in poor condition (allowing wicking of ink across the channels) and having a full (or near full) magenta cartridge and an empty (or nearly empty) yellow cartridge. The difference in the height of the fluid in the cartridges causes a siphon effect. If the cap tops...
