  1. What's proper etiquette if a prospect sends you a competitor's proof for pricing?

I don't get into this position because of what I do, but that doesn't keep me from offering a suggestion - so take it for what it's worth... Let the potential customer know that you'll have to get permission from the original company to use their design (if it's more than a "Grand Opening"...
  2. Versaworks 5 get Error 4087

That sure looks like an i1 pro 2 from Xrite, but there may be a firmware difference that only allows it to work with efi software - ??? I don't know what differences there are. I don't have the old version of Versaworks on my computer any more, but VW6 only has drivers for Xrite devices...
  3. Just In Someone e-mailed me this................................

WOW, I just looked at my profile. I've been on since Feb 5 2004. I don't get it - how could it be that long? Fun Times!!!
  4. Can you upgrade your VG540 to the version 2???

AS far as I know, there is no plan to add orange to the original VG series printers. There will probably be a transition to the TR2 inks at some point in the future, but I haven't heard a timeline for that. But you will only have the same color configurations as you have now in your VG.
  5. Need Help XR-640 unexpected colour issues

Are you using Roland Inks? The test print from Versworks looks off as well. I've found that profiles for Roland materials generally work pretty well as a "generic" substitute. Try PCV4 or GCVP for glossy films or MCVP for matte films. The other things I would try is upgrading firmware if...
  6. Question Take up reel problem

When you load the media, try selecting roll instead of take-up. Then it won't ask you to set the take up.
  7. white spots in prints

It still looks like contaminated media. Did you try another media as suggested in the other thread?
  8. Big problem with my Edge 2

You're probably going to need a new power supply, but have you tried plugging it into another outlet on a different circuit yet? If it does the same thing on another circuit, give Gerber Support a call at 800-828-5406. They're good about helping trouble shoot things over the phone. Also, if...
  9. Need Help Printing Problems HP Latex 365 HELP!!!!!

By everything, do you include replacing print heads and cartridges and maintenance assembly in that list?
  10. Bad prints

I just tell people to use the Gerber cleaning cards after they clean the head. Keep working outward with the cleaning card. I also use alcohol wipes from the drug store for general cleaning - these could be used on the squeegees, but not on the head. Or just isopropyl on a lint free rag.
  11. Bad prints

That appears to be from dirt on the vinyl. Clean/check the vinyl squeegees. Is the environment generally clean or is there a lot of dust around? Also, are you buying full rolls or is your vendor rolling off vinyl to cut smaller rolls? They could be contaminating the vinyl when they do this...
  12. Need Help XR-640 unexpected colour issues

Actually the nozzle test is correct. The missing channels on head B would be for white or metallic silver. He likely has a cleaning cartridge in the 8th slot. Can you post a screenshot of your quality tab in versaworks? What color management setting are you using? What profile?
  13. RSC-1401HW Laminator just beeping when powered up

Try removing and replacing the infeed table. There's a sensor on there that will sometimes not be engaged by the table. Good luck.
  14. Dry time before cutting?

As I said, there are a lot of variables. I'd do some quick tests. Try a line of stickers with no dry time - just print/cut at the same time. Let is sit for a few hours or overnight and see how it looks. The try it with 1 min, 3 min and 5 min dry time P and C - you'll have to set this up in...
  15. Dry time before cutting?

This will be very media dependant as well as artwork dependant as well as profile dependant, but you'll probably want to add some dry time to this job maybe 1 - 3 minutes The solvents in the ink act directly on the vinyl itself. If you're cutting into black ink (usually the heaviest ink load)...
  16. Need help- square grunge type font

I don't know fonts, but Squared Up in a circle?
  17. Versaworks question

Go to the Queue Default properties for your printer, Cutting Options tab and set it to print only. Marks tab - turn on Crop Marks. You'll have to drag the job down to your cutter queue to cut the file, but that's how I'd do it. Good Luck
  18. Suggestions Roland BN-20 reviews and comments

Hey Jim, The print quality on the BN-20 is superb. You'll notice a difference there from your SP. Also print and cut in one machine, if you don't need high production is very convenient. As Saturn mentioned, media availability is somewhat limited in the smaller sizes. 54" has by far the...
  19. Epson S60600 Ink Durability

Hey Glavin, I think that while most inks are pretty UV stable any more, they all recommend lamination if the print will be subject to abrasion. As to whether or not either of those meets your needs, you should ask for print samples off of any machine your considering and do some scratch tests...
  20. White ink on Epson s80600

This is all pretty subjective here. Your best bet would be to ask a dealer for a sample print of what you're looking for. And while they're at it, ask them to time the print so you know how long it takes to get the results you're seeing. Good Luck
