  1. Happens too often...

First off, put "Locals Find" on your ignore list, like most of us. He's not a sign person. Secondly, your first layout had a lot of potential. Some tweaking of the placement and a smaller phone number. Thirdly, with a customer like this, I've found that if you charge them by the word they...
  2. Busted the competition..

I had someone call for prices last year (for a painted wall) Of course they never called back after getting the price. Drove past there on unrelated business last week, their wall is painted and now they are selling large-format printed banners and signs. The sign pictured went up last year on...
  3. Some Recent HDU work....

    Looking good! As usual. Love....Jill
  4. Cube Van Job... Happy Customer!

Simple and clean. I would have probably done the same thing. I got a really nice little folding step ladder @ Lowe's for under $15, I take it everywhere. And remember we are only a few days away from March 14th so you may get your wish, Tim. :Big Laugh Love....Jill
  5. Farmer's Market Stand Layout

    Better...but I preferred the red.
  6. Getting some business cards printed, What to put on them? Show me yours!

I've been using these cards for about 2 years. I try to keep it pretty simple but I do like to advertise my specialties. The design part up top is for a different service, I have it kinda greyscale-ish. Love....Jill
  7. Farmer's Market Stand Layout

I think I'd make "All" in the same font as "NUTS" for better legibility. Other than that, I like it. Love....Jill
  8. Font Help! Do you recognize this script font?

Just print that out, tape to a window, trace with a Sharpie, and scan. Import into your design program and clean it up. Looks hand rendered. There are a few old hand-drawn vector phrases on the old Roland Vector Art collections, which Fred sells via his site...
  9. Rebates for customers?

I think it would be a hassle to deal with, potentially a pain in the butt because you would have to make sure everything was in writing to avoid someone trying to rip you off or claim that you ripped them off. Signs are usually a one-time deal (for me anyway, even repeat people are usually...
  10. Windows XP going away-Browser question.

Yes, I am on WinXP. I had my PC custom made with it (and a floppy drive!) because I was originally on Win95SE with my first PC and I needed a way to get my design files. My plotter runs fine from it (3 years old now) and I have no problems other than my PC is getting up there. As we all...
  11. Hello from Murrieta, CA

Hi From PA. I have a friend on Facebook from your town, who has bought some hand-painted stuff from me. I've been in this biz since 1985, have seen a lot of changes, mostly for the bad. Sorry to sound like an old sour puss. Love....Jill
  12. Font help needed.

I think the X is Serpentine but I got nuthin' on the other font. Love....Jill
  13. Somebody please set me straight!

The sign turned out really nicely. It's hard to tell from the pix, but it looks to me that you do need a more secure means of hanging it. You don't want that to come down and hurt someone.
  14. Pricing for 200pcs of vehicle logo decals, am I overpriced?

If I were going to do them that cheaply, I'd sub them out to a wholesaler and re-sell. I hate leaving money on the table.
  15. Pricing for 200pcs of vehicle logo decals, am I overpriced?

I anything, you are far too low. If using cut vinyl for that two-color job, are you planning on pre-assembling them? (hopefully not layering) I don't give out prices online in the main forum, but let's just say for a single-color 4" logo I get over three times what you're charging. (Oracal...
  16. tips for removing frosted glass films

I'd be really leery of using heat on a window. (especially in winter) for fear of it cracking. I think I'd use a razor scraper (carefully so you don't scratch the glass) Then clean off the residue with rapid remover. Love....Jill
  17. 2014 race cars headed to New Smyrna Speedway

Clean as a whistle. I love clean, I hate clutter. I'm a big fan of your work. Love....Jill
  18. How bad did I do!! Shop van wrap design.

Less thank you may think. Thank goodness you are going for a new logo. That one will hurt you more than help you.
  19. New Website

I have no room to talk because I have a crappy GoDaddy site. But it seems really busy to me, real "instant sign shop" looking not elite. Takes awhile to load for me. You know I love you, Dennis. Love....Jill
  20. How bad did I do!! Shop van wrap design.

It's getting better but the colors really clash. I'd change the green on the very bottom panel to a charcoal grey. I'd make the blue panel be red, and lose the mint green behind the lady with the orange shirt. If you can, change her shirt to yellow and the background to orange. Hate the font...
