  1. I love chrome

    Very nice!!
  2. Need A 3D Prop For a Wrap

Good point Pat. Good thing rockets are somewhat aerodynamic. Dan, for now, the project is a one off for the only passenger van they have. I don't see them putting these on the shuttle buses because clearance would be an issue. Of course, quality is important but it's not going in a museum...
  3. Need A 3D Prop For a Wrap

I haven't really gone over mounting scenarios with them yet. The van is a passenger van currently used to shuttle people. We are finishing up a fleet of brand new shuttle buses for them, so my feeling is they plan to take this van out of service and just use it to as a big billboard. If that's...
  4. Need A 3D Prop For a Wrap

Here is a rough representation of what my client is looking to do. It would be about 60" from the tip of the nose to tip of the flame. I would need help figuring out a mounting system too.
  5. Need A 3D Prop For a Wrap

Always a joker in the crowd. No, actually the van will never leave their parking lot. So actually, it probably will never go much more than 15 or 20mph.
  6. Need A 3D Prop For a Wrap

I have a client we have done a bunch of work for. One of those kind I just can't say "no" to. I need to find someone who can fabricate a 3 dimensional rocket based on their logo design that will mount to the top of a passenger van we are wrapping. I'm thinking something sculpted from foam? I...
  7. VP 540 With RIPC

Despite everything I've read and heard, there are some things I just won't print with RIPC profiles. When print quality is crucial, I use the RIP profiles.
  8. About To Pull The Trigger On RS640

Since you shamelessly jacked my thread... what's your price on 440 EcoSol Max CMYK?
  9. About To Pull The Trigger On RS640

We are swamped and our VP540 is sweating bullets working over time. I'm just about to pull the trigger on buying an RS640. My thoughts on the pros are... same inks same rip no learning curve or major upset to production... just plugin and go close to same prints from one printer to other...
  10. Wrap Fail

+1 Epic fail in using the term fail... which, by they way, is so 2010. Every time I hear "fail" or "epic fail", I throw up in my mouth a little bit... which, by the way, is so 2009. Can we just stop using those words and phrases please? Not the nicest design I've ever come across, but the...
  11. Finally bought a roll of 8518

After 4 years of wrapping cars with 180cv3 and 8519, I finally broke down and bought a roll of 8518. According to a 3M rep, they now offer the same warranty on the 8518 as they do on 8519. I was surprised to see a clear plastic backing on the roll. Does it always come that way? 8519 is always on...
  12. Learned my lesson, Which cast digital vinyl?

We've been using 210 gloss and matte on ij35c for a long time on windows, signs, flat installs, etc. No problems. Unfortunately, the 3M lam for the ij35 -- whatever it is 8508? -- sucks. It's pee (**** is a bad word?) yellow and doesn't feel as nice as 210. On a side note, has anyone tried...
  13. Learned my lesson, Which cast digital vinyl?

You really shouldn't have issues with those calendared products on flat glass installs. How did you clean/prep those surfaces? I've had issues with ij35c failing once or twice but I'm certain its because the glass wasn't prepped well enough.
  14. Working on my first vehicle wrap

Despite the glaring intellectual property issue. I don't get it. If you really think a dinosaur is going to help take your sign business to another level of success... couldn't you just draw your own dinosaur or have an artist draw you one? Why steal?
  15. Jesse KILLS IT

LMAO... yeah the horse bike was absolutely ridiculous. I've never seen anything so corny in my life. There is a market for pretty much everything. Bottom line is, Junior may build some candy coated bikes with a half gallon gas tank, but there is clearly still a good market for it. They...
  16. Business Name

What was your previous name? What happened exactly?
  17. Im Stumped ...Little Help?

If I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. If I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. If I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. If I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. If I can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
  18. Logo critique

In all honesty and with all due respect, no... that doesn't meet my criteria. I know plenty of "manufacturers" as you call them. At the very fundamental level of any and every print shop is a designer. Whether you are one, hire one or sub one out doesn't make a difference. But it's absolutely a...
  19. Still need 6 installers

Good idea on the Mutoh. That would be a bitch if you had to repair a project and couldnt match the prints. Have you done any comparison. How do the colors match up?
  20. Logo critique

My suggestion... re-read all of SignManiac's posts in this thread. He is 100% spot on and his logo offering is the best in the thread. I wish there were some basic criteria to enter the sign/printing business. Seriously. I mean, you gotta pass some kind of test to be a journeyman...
