I'm not up to speed on the XJ540. But it runs DX4 heads. Also your test print is probably about as good as it gets for a 2 year old machine and very near perfect. I think the adjustment of the machine will be the issue. Maybe even a contaminated encoder strip or wheel. SC

Yes I agree the nozzles are not helping your issues. But I reckon you have an issue with the encoder disk because it is not constant and looks like it reappears in the same area. Our Valuejet does this from time to time and it is because the disk is warped and the sensor is touching the disk...

The board price is about right. The tech fee is ridiculous unless you are in the jungle or rainforest! Takes about 30 minutes to change the board and maybe another 30 minutes to set it up. SC

I realise this may be a very stupid question. I am on with replacing my Maintenance station (complete with pump assembly) on my VJ1604. Do I have to power the machine down and discharge as I will have to disconnect the pump motor? Or can this be done whilst the machine is still on? Thanks SC

I wish the Mimaki JV3 I bought and had been offline for two months (so I was told) looked half as good as that! If I was you I would get the thing printing. I would run it on a very high quality do a test print and the start and the end and compare. Making these machines work does them no harm...
