That's an encoder disk problem.
If you roll the material out using the buttons you probably will hear it jumping a little.
I don't know if it is similar to our 1604 but every now and then the disc distorts especially in warmer weather and touches the sensor.
On the 1604 their was an update and...
I know the fix to this.
Please pm me on Tuesday and I can show you how to add the line into the plot file that will make your plotter read the marks.
We have had this issue with wasatch 6.2 since it was installed.
It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does instead of reading the marks it...
Their are no head fuses on the JV3-160S
Their are head resistors on the slider board that can blow.
Also the transistors on the main board can burn out.
I have a JV3-160S sitting idle due to a similar problem!
Wish I had spares like you!!
I would register on the yahoo groups MimakiJV3Printers as...
I'm not up to speed on the XJ540.
But it runs DX4 heads.
Also your test print is probably about as good as it gets for a 2 year old machine and very near perfect.
I think the adjustment of the machine will be the issue.
Maybe even a contaminated encoder strip or wheel.

Our last work unit was a similar size and very similar layout.
But we soon outgrew it.
Even in our new unit which has a 20'x5' bench at the back and can fit 2 XLWB Mercedes Sprinters side by side with space for 2 cars either side it still isn't big enough!
I did as you have done in both our...
I have used digiprint (in belgium) for parts for my VJ1604 and JV3-160s and they are great.
Ordered a maintenance station on Monday morning and it was delivered at 10am the following day!
They are in Belgium I am in the UK!!!

I would try another file.
We had an issue a while back that our networks wireless network started to give the printer address to the mobile network.
Knock the wireless off!
Does it do a nozzle test print?
If not you have a bigger problem!
But I would check your network. Turn everything off...
My machine is a 1604 and the maintenance station comes complete with wiper assembly etc.
Their is no visible way to adjust the placement and level of the station.
I am beginning to think something is out of line.
I can't hear any leaks when pulling ink with a syringe, but it is so noisy here it...
So no one has had this issue after replacing a station?!!!
The nozzles that go out, come and go and are now just on the black channel and are at the nozzles furthest in.
Would changing the wiper for another help?
When it cleans it pulls ink through no problem and seems to be working fine.

Yes I agree the nozzles are not helping your issues.
But I reckon you have an issue with the encoder disk because it is not constant and looks like it reappears in the same area.
Our Valuejet does this from time to time and it is because the disk is warped and the sensor is touching the disk...
You should not have refunded a dime.
Once you did that you (not the customer) accepted their was some problem.
I now realise that customers who sign of a proof never look at anything and should be made to understand once the item is signed of that is exactly what they get and any changes...
Last Friday I fitted a new New Maintenance Station but this week I have had serious problems of the machine losing random nozzles.
I had the print head replaced a couple of months ago and was told by the Tec to get a New Maintenance Station just to keep everything fresh.
Just seems weird that...
The board price is about right.
The tech fee is ridiculous unless you are in the jungle or rainforest!
Takes about 30 minutes to change the board and maybe another 30 minutes to set it up.

I realise this may be a very stupid question.
I am on with replacing my Maintenance station (complete with pump assembly) on my VJ1604.
Do I have to power the machine down and discharge as I will have to disconnect the pump motor?
Or can this be done whilst the machine is still on?
Thanks

Only last month I had the local council wanting a full scale proof of a 20' sign for planning regulations!!
It took me almost 20 minutes to convince the council official they wanted a scale drawing!!!
What a numpty!!

I wish the Mimaki JV3 I bought and had been offline for two months (so I was told) looked half as good as that!
If I was you I would get the thing printing.
I would run it on a very high quality do a test print and the start and the end and compare.
Making these machines work does them no harm...
I can get new print heads for less than that in the UK!
I just need some that have blocked nozzles to test my machine then I will buy new ones!!
Please someone must have old ones that are no longer needed!!!!
