Yup an old timer. First rig was custom built but that's all there was. As I recall it was around $4400 and RAM was measured in minute amounts of megs.
So far I really like my new iMac. Probably still be using my 2009 iMac if the graphics card didn't die. New Mac with 8 gigs of RAM runs...
I own a Summa D140 54". Bought a demo from a show almost two years ago. So far the only ruined jobs were my own fault.
I think Phil from Airmark(formerly Summa) was on the forum with specials.
Friend of mine that had a commercial tint business used Llumar. Ceramic was the thing for a while now there are infrared blocking films. Can't find the specific YouTube vid right now.
Printer should come with a RIP. Probably Flexi.
Forgot the Mac part. Could run Bootcamp but I run my RIP on a PC and design on a Mac. I like having one or more systems in case one goes down.
Did you clean the encoder strip? If you cleaned the strip it could be the encoder reader.
Eliminating those two possibilities leaves electrical. Were you doing any maintenance where you bumped or removed a ribbon cable?
Could be the ribbon cables are worn out too.
How many hours on the...
Sold my SP540V about a year ago. Was a good runner. Not so sure about the new rigs though. As far as contour cutting get a Summa. Don't get a print/cut device no matter what the sales rep tells you. Even though my 540 cut it didn't hold register over more than 4 or 5 feet. Again technology...
If the client can't keep his employees from ruining vinyl start painting the lettering. Not cheap or fast but it will last.
Paint mask and a 4" foam roller is what I used years ago. Old time sign painter showed me the technique for fleets.
Why are you using clear only to print a flood white? Maybe I'm not understanding what the end product is supposed to look like? Use white vinyl, eliminate the flood white and use a simple black to clear gradient.
Exactly! Walked my dog yesterday and saw landscapers putting mulch around the urgent care building.
How ironic would it be if the landscapers got sick while doing their "essential" job? Idiots.
Like I said in a post over a week ago. Keep that sh!t up and you really won't like what happens...
Wow thanks for the explanation. I have a couple paper dust masks in the shop. If I need the heavy artillery I'll break out the auto paint respirators.
Also have the Miller LPR-100 welding respirator.
Nothing is getting through that. Funny story. I weld for an HVAC shop and basically on...
What's the reason behind needing N95 rating? Heard the My Pillow guy is now making masks instead of pillows. I think 50000 a day? Can't be sure. Whatever the number it's a good thing.
And people could start doing their part by staying home like they're supposed to. I think some people are treating it like some kind of holiday.
If I need further encouragement to stay at home I think of my neighbors brother with Covid19. Reduced to moving his eyes and will most likely die in...
I have yachts to do and getting pressure to get them done, but I'm abiding by federal guidelines and not traveling. Talked to my installer yesterday and he's also staying put. So there ya go.
Not sure if it will affect my relationship with the marinas, but there are way more important things...
Had it set for 12 hour intervals. My new Mutoh uses more per purge and thats set for 12 hours too. Nature of the beast. Rather use a bit more ink than have to replace a printhead.
Industrial labeling. I have one solid client that provides a good revenue stream. Next is printing for a local shop. Files are usually ready to go and I never deal directly with the client. Other bit is working on yachts. Names on transoms, boot stripes and hull stripes. Love that stuff...
