When you change to metallic only in Versaworks, what do you see in the preview? Does the metallic ink icon show up in the center panel (where your normal cut icon would normally show up?)

You should be able to do a couple of little charges from the menu (cleaning menu I think) to bring the ink up to the head.

Unless you're printing the gradient with black ink only, your grays (and other colors, but greys tend to show it more) will be subject to Metarmerism - where the lighting conditions will affect the perceived color. Always evaluate your prints in the light that they will be viewed under - e.g...

I have customers who use an in-feed and out-feed table when cutting thick graphics so that it doesn't have a curve in the media. This seems to work well for them and if you do this a lot, it should pay off. If you do it exclusively, you should consider getting a flat bed cutter.

I'm pretty sure that the issue lies in the export, not the import. I'm not an Illustrator guru, but someone will surely pipe in here. What format are you using? EPS? PDF?

There are some weird permission issues with Windows 10 and it's not a consistent thing that I can figure out. I have just come to try "Run as Admin" whenever I hit a bump. You're welcome and have a great day.

Try "Run as Administrator", even though you're logged in as admin, it's not the same. I've run into this with VersaWorks Dual on Win 10, but haven't seen it with old VersaWorks.

Did that help? It looks like you have deflected nozzles in black. This could also cause the double lines in black print depending on the scale and the orientation of the print. If cleaning the encoder strip didn't help, I'd focus on cleaning up that black head.

have you replaced the cap tops? also check to make sure that none of the tubing under the caps has come disconnected. Also, just because the pump is spinning, doesn't equate to "working fine" if the tube is worn through inside the pump, it can spin all day long and not suck a drop of ink...
