  1. Onyx issue with Windows 10 2004

i think there would be a solution/bug fix. but geez i can tell you it wasn't fun. especially after a fresh install of win10.
  2. Onyx issue with Windows 10 2004

if you had posted this issue 10 hours earlier... i was absolutely ripping my hair out trying to figure this issue out. had changed out my HDDs to SSDs in my PC with a clean install if win10 last 2 days and when it came to installing onyx, i was so stumped that it kept blue screening. i...
  3. HP R1000 Glass Printing

I would say that's an adhesion problem. how well does the ink stick to the glass? can you put a strip of packaging tape on the ink side then try rip it off with out the ink coming off the glass?
  4. X-Rite i1 Display Studio or x-Rite ColorMunki Photo

If your RIP flex 17 or your production rip 7 can build icc profiles internally, then you can find buy the entry i1 basic 3 or even the 2. the software will allow you to calibrate your screens only. Or if you're confident, you can just find a i1 pro2 on ebay and use free software like arcyll...
  5. X-Rite i1 Display Studio or x-Rite ColorMunki Photo

Neither. The colorMunki photo is primarily for photographers who print at home. a cheap all in one package as most photographers etc who print at home. The i1 display studio is pretty much for calibrating monitors only. (i have the i1 display pro) the difference is the studio uses the i1...
  6. Need Help UV color profiling

the only "remedy" is understanding how the software reads inks and creating ink curves that allow the software (onyx) to know when to limit inks and not to limit inks in the ICC profile. There's no real answer that'll solve your problem. you can do a "click - read - next" method in onyx and...
  7. Need Help UV color profiling

from experience, most profiling software doesn't understand UV unks as it would with solvent. UV ink can hold density and chroma. solvents will get to a point when there's to much ink it'll go flat, bleed, look muddy ect. restricting UV inks can be challenging but crucial for good output.
  8. Need Help Making ICC Profile, grey's are green ??

Do you have Xrite i1 profiler software? to be able to create icc profiles from i1 profiler? Xrite engine is pretty good and pushing out consistent profiles. Wouldn't say it's the best but it's pretty good.
  9. Need Help Making ICC Profile, grey's are green ??

Using spot colours to get colours to reproduce colours as intended only works for spot colour situations. This isn't the answer when you need to print a B&W photo with gradients.
  10. Laptop or desktop?

The days of bloatware are behind us... i think. When i get a new laptop, generally a flagship, there's not much bloatware on it. usually what i find would be an antivirus trial, and some manufacturer software, generally to find updates/drivers for their hardware. Maybe on the cheaper models...
  11. Laptop or desktop?

weirdly, there's a bunch of people who still use the nub. more the older gen who had laptops with no trackpad. i even had one of those!
  12. Laptop or desktop?

A lot of tech youtubers use RED 8k cameras. go look at linus techtips or MKBHD for example. and have you tested the claim that an i5 will be quicker than an i9 9980hk in a laptop? i highly doubt it. any high end CPU will throttle in a laptop. the i7 9780h gets just as hot and does not keep up...
  13. Laptop or desktop?

Dont need gaming laptops these days to get the power from those laptops. Any creator laptop will have similar spec in a more sleek chassis with a higher resolution screen and more colour accurate.
  14. Laptop or desktop?

I use to use a Dell XPS 13 9630 i7 7500u 16gb ram. never really noticed any coil whine. Although i did pull apart the heatsink and put better thermal paste onthe cpu then use throttlestop and undervolted the CPU. it runs at full turbo boost all day with out passing 80 deg.
  15. Laptop or desktop?

If that was the case, then why do most tech youtubers, who edit 4k or 8k raw video use mostly (modern) systems built with a i9 9900k, i7 9700k, Ryzen 9900x or 3950x pared with a RTX2080 & RTX2080ti. or older systems with a 7700k, 7900k, 7980x, pared with a GTX1080 or 1080ti. all GPUs have...
  16. Laptop or desktop?

Quadros have their place. When using applications for graphics design, photography, or anything for printing. you are absolutely wasting your money on a quadro. unless you're doing 3d rendering/modelling, solid works, machine learning, 8k video (not all and so on. then yes, and at that point...
  17. Laptop or desktop?

Some of the comments make me laugh.. LOL You dont need a gaming laptop, nor do you need a work station. They both have their place in the industry, but not in the "creators" side. Gaming laptops: They have top end laptop CPUs, intel i7 or i9 with 6 - 8 cores, which is great for multitasking...

Jester, post: 1473144, member: 80260"]Can we use an x-rite i1Studio spectrophotometer to create color profiles from within Versaworks 6? cannot be 100% but it will be listed somewhere. if you have versaworks 6, you may be able to search it. if you have the device, plug it in and try. Do we even...

  20. Onyx Thrive 11.1.2 - Recalibrating A Profile / Just Crashes After Swatch Scans

strange issue. does this happen with your other printers or media you try read? if so, i'd back up onyx, save all your profiles and keep notes of your settings. (just in case anything does go wrong) and repair onyx, By clicking on the software installer. should have a repair option.
