  2. Need Help upgrading to Mimaki

We have a JFX-200 in the lab at school. It's no speed demon, but the output is beautiful. Students use it to output their work. Also gets used to produce signs/graphics for our campus and our satellite learning centers. Lab aides made templates to hold various styles of USB drives and other...
  3. Opinion Epson Surecolor 40600 vs Roland TrueVis SG

Print/Cut rigs will never be as accurate on long runs or complex cuts as a Summa. Been there done that with a print/cut rig. Once you experience the difference and speed you'll wonder why you didn't do it right away.
  4. Shipping Crate Software

How I learned and once you get used to the process it's quite fast. 4x4's the width of the product. Never more than 2' in between 4x4's. Cover with 1x10's the length of the product. Fasten to 4x4's with 16p ring shank. 2x4 uprights 1.5" taller than product get nailed flat side to 4x4's. 16p...
  5. Shipping Crate Software

I think you'll waste more time with software. I used to crate industrial equipment of all shapes and sizes. If you can read a tape measure, run a radial arm saw and pneumatic nail gun and stapler you're good to go. 4x4's and 1x10's are your friend.;)
  6. Need Help Looking to rebuild a 62" Falcon Outdoor

To the OP. You opened a can of worms. If you do manage to resurrect it you will have an ancient and slow rig. Gotta ask yourself if the time spent chasing parts and trying to get answers is really worth it. Running printers are out there. You just have to look. I sold my SP540V for 2800...
  7. Apple Mac Pro

A really cool one. We aren't called the Harvard of the Northwoods for nothing.;) We have all the trick "toys" in the various departments. To be clear it's a technical college and I'm proud to be among the staff. A long time ago I was a student. Now I'm teaching the next generation.
  8. Apple Mac Pro

Basic iMac has been done everything I've needed. Students get along fine with them for graphic design. When you go next door to video production that's where you see the fully built whoop a** Mac Pro stuff. Sound studio/audio production has fully built rigs too. Specs for 21.5" iMac at...
  9. Apple Mac Pro

My iMac runs Adobe creative suite 5 or 6. Can't remember which. No legacy stuff on campus. We added a huge addition for print technology. Including a wrap bay. Everything was updated including the iMacs. Equipment is just over a year old including the new UV flatbed, flatbed cutter, roll...
  10. Apple Mac Pro

Up until my graphics card started to go I laid out wraps, high res work and did photo editing on my Dual Core 2.8Mhz iMac from 2009. Only 8G of RAM too. Sometimes it took a while to render, but it cranked out the work. Would still be using it if it weren't for the graphics card issue. No...
  11. Apple Mac Pro

Got the latest holiday flyer from Costco. 21.5" iMac is $300 off starting today. 27" iMac is discounted $330. Decisions, decisions. I may just knuckle under and get the 21.5" and be done. Out the door for 1200 bucks or so. Nets you a 6 core processor, 8G ram and 1TB Fusion drive. Meh, it...
  12. Tips for keeping crud off prints when laminating?

We use the small Swiffers. Vacuum and wipe down the laminator. Keep laminator covered when not in use. Exposed laminate is a magnet for crud. I always have a 6"-8" lead on prints to take up the first bit of laminate. Make sure the floor is clean. If there's windows vacuum the sills and...
  13. Question What Printer would you stake your business on?

I've been quite happy with my Mutoh 1624X. Switched over from Roland. Prints fast which is good. Wouldn't have been able to keep up with recent workload without it. Ink is almost dry before print hits the take up reel. One liter bags of ink are fantastic. Saving $400 on a set compared to...
  14. Need Help Cap Station Cleaning issue help please

Not sure if this will help but I always squirt cleaning solution on the captop before parking the head. Did it with my SP540V, doing it with my 1624x.
  15. T-Shirt - Heat Press - Which one should I get?

Hotronix drawer style here. Bought it used from a guy that was retiring. He had eight of them. Works great and I like it better than the clamshell style.
  16. Christmas Carol Overload Yet?

Pumpkin Spice everything hasn't hit stride, I have yet to experience my first bout of TB(Turkey Belly) and stores are already pushing Christmas.
  17. Yeti SmartBench

Great reply. Now I'm more interested than when I stumbled on your video. Your CNC is so simple the first time you see it you're left wondering why nobody did it before. Kudos to your team. Be nice to see an in person demo.
  18. Printing problem

Nope, what you see in the dialog box I posted is it. Open Production Manager in Flexi then add job. Once loaded into PM you can double click the job. This will open up your settings. I just ran a job like this using 3640 Orajet with the canned profile and it turned out great.(Mutoh 1624X)
  19. Yeti SmartBench

Will have to wait until more are in the field and people start hammering them. Just like racing. Build your ride then take it to the track and find all the flaws.
  20. Printing problem
