  1. Printing problem

You're probably sending Adobe files with a color profile attached. I save without color conversion and let Flexi handle it. Been using a canned Flexi profile with great results.
  2. Problems removing vinyl

Trailer panels have the absolute bare minimum paint or powdercoat on them. Nature of the beast to have some of it lift here and there. If you're installing a new graphic clean and paint the area. If the new graphic doesn't cover the damaged area you will never get it to match. Above...
  3. Yeti SmartBench

All valid points. I'm going to sit back and see what shakes out. I'm in no hurry. I do however like the concept of being able to break it down for storage. Personally, I'd like to have a 4' x 4' Gerber. It's about all I could squeeze in the shop.
  4. DeWalt Cordless Heat Gun

I used my ancient propane fired Coleman Focus 3 yesterday. Small strip and install job outdoors in 40 degree F weather and windy. Worked a treat.
  5. Yeti SmartBench

Found this on YouTube last night: https://www.yetitool.com/products/product-details/smartbench I think it's pretty slick. If it holds register for things like push through I'd be interested. I'll let the CNC gurus take over and give their thoughts.
  6. Apple Mac Pro

Looking for first hand information of someone that has one of the original Mac Pro's. Lots of places out there selling refurb/upgraded units now.
  7. Apple Mac Pro

Specs are great and it would be new but not taking out a second mortgage. Don't need tons of power either. Was doing wraps up until last year with my 9 year old Core 2 Duo iMac until the graphics card started to go.
  8. Apple Mac Pro

The why is easy. They are easily upgradeable to perform with modern Macs without the heart attack price. They are more PC like and what Apple should have kept building. You can plug in graphics cards, ram, late model CPU's etc...just like a PC. CPU's are on a sled that you slide out after...
  9. Apple Mac Pro

Computer gurus. I've been looking at 2012 vintage Apple Mac Pro's. Liking what I see since you can upgrade everything. Not like the soldered in place for life rigs Apple makes now. But but but you can build a PC that will do backflips for mere pennies. Not an option I need to tread both...
  10. Mimaki print cut or print only

New Mimaki print/cut in the lab at school. Lots of "miles" on it already. Students are doing partial wraps on 4 squads right now. When the students aren't using it signage for our campus and remote centers is being produced. No issues that I know of except I'm not a fan of Rasterlink. White...
  11. Discussion Large dampers for SP540V?

Put them in years ago because it what was in stock. Kept using them from that point on. They did have bigger filter screens but can't say I noticed any performance advantage.
  12. Suggestions New Printer/laminator

Good information regarding Epson. Roland was my first printer. If there were issues a tech was usually on site same day. New printer is a Mutoh. So far I've only had one tech call and he was on site within hours. Ink drain tube wasn't quite right and leaked. Something I always look at...
  13. Suggestions New Printer/laminator

What does the dealer in your town sell and service? I know I sound like a broken record, but just like a house is location, location, location. Your printer and cutter is all about service, service, service. Doesn't matter what you buy they all break/stop working at the worst possible time...
  14. Most of you are just mediocre sign business people

Too funny! If you don't mind could you send the file? Lab project for next week is t-shirts.
  15. Anyone running a 52"Puma or Jaguar cutter?

Get a Summa. If money is a concern Phil posts trade show specials on Summa equipment. Bought mine from a show.
  16. Print & Cut Longer than 8' issues

Yeah, but I never forget bleeds...
  17. Extra large poster frames

Installed correctly bowing shouldn't be an issue. Plenty of fastener locations.
  18. Print & Cut Longer than 8' issues

Been there done that. Bought a Summa. Done.
  19. Extra large poster frames

Got a monster snap frame made. Took a chance ordering, but it's a real nice piece. Matte black, 1.25" wide, perfect miters and within 3/32" of square. Came with backer and cover too. I printed on Orajet 3640 matte, mounted to 3mm foam PVC(generic Komatex). Loaded everything in the frame and...
  20. How to get lower shipping rates? FedEx & UPS

You need to ship a ton of product. Company I used to work for made 38% profit on UPS packages. Can't remember FedEx, DHL etc... Four guys, two shifts and they had trouble keeping up.
