Track down a used GX unit. My GX 500 has three pinch rollers, but I've wanted to add additional rollers because I run 150' rolls through it. You can add pinch rollers to these units. You may want to look into Summa as well.

I wish I could get that much life our of my heads. My 645 has never gotten more than a couple years per head.

That varies on many factors. Head strikes, scratches, solvent content of ink, etc. My yellow head is my oldest. Probably four+ years old. All the other heads seem to die in two to three years. I've never had any luck recovering heads in ultrasonics. I have replaced broken manifolds to...

Is your carriage lose? Slipping belt? Encoder sensor could be going. I would have said strip, but you replaced that. Have you checked your encoder via service mode? If you are still getting an error after a new encoder strip, I would suggest the sensor.

Tighten the pulley until the slack is just out of the belt when operating.
