I can attest to VERY bad, and good 3rd party inks. The problem is trying an inkset on a printer that could damage 6k+ worth of heads. If you're not sure, stick with OEM inks. Can't go wrong with factory inks.

I laminate everything with a BS. I don't have a laminator, but I need one. After I laminate something I hit it with a felt squeegee to really put the pressure to it. After a day the silvering goes away and the print is perfect. Love the BS.

We use Solaris Roland ink from Fellers. In liter bottles. We use the bulk system that has tanks connected to carts with floats in the cart. This keeps the ink pressures perfect. We run our carts at about 1/3rd full and never have problems. I love Solaris ink. The inks due stink...

Looks like a bi-dir calibration is needed as well as a calibration via service mode.

I've had there error when the carriage is out of sync with the encoder as well. I know it's related to feed, but when things go bad, the printer starts throwing codes. ;)
