Now i'm aware.
I assumed since i was logged in, they'd know i was an advantage holder and the key would be with the download. When installing it did say "updating key" but could be something else probably.
But yes when i went to x12, i had a new update for the key which i uploaded. Cannon...
I have a feeling it doesn't want to use the HASP key any more and wants me to move to the new one. I've emailed Canon about it and they're now looking into it. This is according to the licencing on the onyxgfx website.
I tried installing it on my brand new laptop fresh and had the same issue...
I'm a little lost on how this has happened. I just backed them up on another hard drive, and currently backing up the whole program file just in case.
The whole not wanting to update my key scenario screwed things up i think. i can't work out why the key wont upgrade. 12.0.5 works.
The files...
I've tried to upgrade to 12.1 and now all these issues have popped up.
Tried to upgrade to 12.1 (i am an advantage holder) and it wouldn't update my key. but 12.1 is installed. But cannot open anything as there's no programs to open.
Ok install 12.0.5 back on it. everything is good, except...
I like to use onyx. I've seen caldera in use, and im not a huge fan. For me, Onyx interface feels more on a professional level. And doing jobs in job editor/preflight is all done in steps so you really cannot miss anything.
If you're running a different rip for different printers, i suppose so.
I get a lot of different files, but i end up having to make changes anyway and then save it as a PDF or TIFF.
Some people like to put spot pantone colours and not to it right and onyx wont recognise it.
Makes sense to me. 90% of our prints are one time prints. The only things i keep on file is my image library, A clients image library if requested and prints sustainable to damage which might require a reprint.
Appreciate everyones $0.02
I'll most likely set up a hot folder to transfer from 1...
You should be able to swap them out. When i reformat mine some time this year. I had to play in the bios to get the 4 HDDs working. It's some sort of RAID card but not in a RAID configuration.
I thought about SSDs but it's quick enough for me.
Ideally you want 1 RIP pc and software to run it all. That's what i gather anyway. Like i run onyx, and any future printers will be running off onyx also.
I just used the RIP pc to do other tasks also, but i need to stop doing that.
FYI my RIP pc, I have a Xeon quad core 3.6ghz with hyper threading.
8gb ram. upgradable to 64gb. Haven't needed any more just yet.
2tb of hard drives. I run dual monitors also.
I wouldn't run a Laptop for a RIP Pc.
I could have gotten another PC for design ect, but i rather have a laptop for...
My RIP pc is a bit of a work horse. Only time it gets bogged down is when i am playing with huge (a few gb) files in Photo shop.
The RIP has 4 500gb hard drives. I have all my images on 1 hard drive and the programs on another.
My printer is in the same room as the rip. Technically it's next...
Who uses separate computer from their rip computer?
How do you have it set up? what software on what computer? Laptop or PC for the 2nd computer?
I have onyx thrive, so i can access thrive via my web browser but i haven't really used this much.
I'm not sure what the best approach is. I...
If you save the file as a .TIFF then in job editor on the icc profile section where it says "all ICC profiles on" you can click TIFF with embedded profiles.
The embedded profile is what the file was originally made with oe assigned in photoshop ect.
If you want to test this. Open a file go Edit...
There's no point in having a proofing printer that has a lower colour gamut than your printer. The idea of that is replicate what you're printer is going to print so your client will be happy with the colours.
You cannot really just give them a piece of paper with their image on it and say...
