  2. Rounded Corners: Can Anyone Explain This!?

Circle template from my days as a draftsman, SAE and metric. They gotta be 30+ years old. Probably can't get them now.

  5. Vinyl specific software?

FWIW: Just finished a chat session with April at SAI. She said perpetual licenses are still available. Said she would tell the marketing department about the web page showing subscription only. One of two ways to look at this. Either she is right or hasn't been told about the latest changes.
  6. Vinyl specific software?

This^^^ Flexi user for years. Stupid simple for cut vinyl, even multi-color jobs. If you're just cutting vinyl though you wouldn't need the pro version.
  7. Heatgun VS Steamer

Steam for me. Less chance of burning a surface. In my experience I've found that steam leaves most of the glue attached to the vinyl. Most is the key word. Nothing is the perfect solution every time. Just have to see which one works best on the particular job.

Show me the data that proves your statement.
  9. How much time does a vinyl cutter will stay competitive ?

It will probably last longer than you want to keep working. My D610 needs two pinch rollers after a couple decades of use. I imagine our new D140R will be the same.
  10. Wow.. Is it as annoying to you guys as it is me?

I'll stick with my Summa. Haven't had it that long and it's already done thousands of pieces. Then add in the fact that I can call tech support and Phil answers all my really stupid questions right away. BTW I still have my original D610 that cut miles of vinyl 50 yards at a time. Ran it...
  11. paint on vinyl?

Before I had a printer I would paint flames, fades, shadows, etc...onto cast material with auto paint(acrylic enamel) WARNING: Acrylic enamel is full of isocyanates. Ugly stuff as it's cumulative in your system. Once you become sensitized the least whiff will cause serious issues including...

Laminate Measuring Device. Ain't much to look at. Harbor Freight measuring wheel Item #95701 and some scrap Apex board. Laminator is an RS-1650C I should get a patent:D Really surprised manufacturers don't include one.
  13. 3m 8508 - Possible Shorten roll?!

I had short 3M rolls a couple times. That's why I rigged a counter on my laminator. No more guessing what the total length was or if there is enough remaining to finish the job.;)
  14. Need Help True black to transparent fade or gradient.

Can always try the Blend function in Ai. I've had good success with it.
  15. Vinyl on Cistern

I'd like to see the exact procedure for install. Seems a bit tricky and would need enough bleed to give wrinkles a place to go. Makes me want to head out to a local farm and give it a shot.
  16. Suggestions Design Computer - Hardware

Our latest has an AMD Black Series processor, 8 gigs of RAM, and a 256G SSD. Don't remember the brand of the mobo. It rips. Running Win 7 Pro. Local shop built it for just over a grand.
  17. Discussion So, how many are gonna...............................

Dad is a WWII vet and brother-in-law a Vietnam vet. Both are disgusted with the NFL. Personally I never cared for any pro-sports players so never got into watching. The NFL could disappear and it wouldn't bother me a bit.
  18. Where I can get this?

PVC probably wouldn't be rigid enough. I'd start with an old office chair base then add schedule 40 pipe for the upright.Couple pieces of plywood with a lazy susan bearing for the roll or material to rest on. Then figure out the I.D. of the core and cut some plywood for that. Only other thing...
  19. Another Successful Walldog Meet

    Outstanding work!
  20. Subscription Based Software

Heck, I spent 26 years in a factory building paper processing, converting, and ancillary equipment. Went back to school for graphic design/business after my job was offshored. Working on my BA now. Never know what life will throw at you or where it will lead.
