Just keep in mind that HP's have a short support lifespan compared to most solvents. Mimaki's been using the same ink for 3 generations of printers while HP cut's their customers short when a new model comes out.

Yes Epson based machines will have better quality than the HP Latex. Your Roland printers also use older Epson heads which is why you see them getting closer to what you want. The newest Epsons have the TFP heads which have even smaller dots and better accuracy.

With my method you setup the cut settings on the cutter itself and don't allow the software to control that. Then if you send the spot color file over, it should just use the settings for which ever tool you chose. But maybe Onyx doesn't support this.
