  1. laminate width

The reason I buy Oracal is because they have matching width laminates. Other companies sell 38" lam for 36" print stock. That's a true pain in the butt. I've noticed that the Oracal lam can float a little from batch to batch. I'll get a 54 that exactly the same size as the vinyl, the next one...
  2. Wall wrap

+1 for Mactac. I've also used Arlon wrap film for a 4x8 in our local school. Worked very well, but I like Mactac better. Slow, slow going. Allow plenty of time. It took a solid hour to install the 4x8 on painted cinder block.
  3. Sihl Trisolve Posters sticking together

Run a ton of Trisolve on my GS6000. 8 pass bi di, with a Black Body infrared heater. If I don't use the heater, I get sticking issues as well. With the heater I can run a whole roll without any worries. The Trisolve will take pretty high dry temps, just don't forget to pull the heater away...

  6. Need Help in the Ranch Cucamonga area

Hello Fello Sign101'ers, I'm doing a hot rush project for one of my clients. This entails printing 150 large decals (in progress) and shipping them overnight Monday for a Tue am delivery to a warehouse in Rancho Cucamonga. My client thinks the warehouse staff will be able to apply these...
  7. aaarghhh... Customer Sends Me ANOTHER PPT File

I've made it perfectly clear to my clients. I will not accept Power Point files for artwork, period. If you would like to send a PPT to show me what the final should look like, expecting me to rebuild at $65 an hour, that's just fine.
  8. Mimaki Flatbed Cutters

Does anyone have experience with the Mimaki CF2 or CF3 series cutters? Didn't get a chance to go to SGIA, anyone see the new Summa F series and have opinions? Next logical step is to get routing in house. I don't do any dimensional/3D signage, so I think a CNC (Multicam, AXYZ, Techno, etc)...
  9. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

Just got off the phone with Epson support (couldn't wait anymore for an email response), told them the Green channels died and my machine is 2 weeks out of warranty, asked what it would cost to have the head replaced and I was told EPSON WOULD COVER THE COST! Seems there's a known issue with the...
  10. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

Yeah, I buy my ink from the Epson authorized company I bought the printer from. Not a fan of 3rd party inks and I don't shop price, I'm more concerned with support, service and having items in stock. Astro, they must be sending all the good ink down under. Your comment on the...
  11. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

Extremely frustrating, I really thought we were past this. Since the first head went I regularly print large squares of Green and Orange. Also, I order green as needed so I get fresh ink with good date codes. I stock 2 each of all other colors. And, since it's been running so well...
  12. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

Hey, lost half the green head this weekend. Looks like I'll be having the head replaced this week. Machine is 1 yr old, this will be the 3rd head. Awesome.
  13. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

Service Code 1136 - CR Motor Step Out Error. Try cleaning the encoder strip, if that doesn't do it, then you may need to have the Encoder Sensor adjusted or replaced. I noticed you said "shut down last night", are you turning the machine off at night? You should really leave it on 24/7...
  14. Muddy, orange peel, spotty prints?

Can't hurt to try, or maybe slow the speed down to give the ink a little more time to set. If your running Bi, try Uni.
  15. Retractable Banner Stands!

I've been using Bantex 13oz Curl Free on my GS6000. Prints nice, stays flat. Only issue, it's a bit pricey, about .67 a square. Last time I ordered 2 rolls, one 36, the other 54. They printed a little differently, the 54 was a little muted. Maybe an older roll experiencing some plasticizer...
  16. double sided banner question.

Apply black vinyl to the inside of one piece, should be enough to block any show through. Had to do that in a pinch once and it worked fine.
  17. Dibond to Stucco with liquid nails?

I love this site! 1 part Popular Mechanics, 1 part Jerry Springer...
  18. GS6000 Service Mode

Does anyone know how to start the GS6000 in service mode? Getting a slight double image printing uni and would like to dbl check head alignments before calling support.
  19. Matte vinyl with gloss laminate, what results?

You'll get gloss. Finishes aren't additive, whatever the top layer of material is, is the gloss level you'll end up with. We lam matte vinyl with gloss overlam on a regular basis. I like to heat the top roller a bit to help the adhesive flow. You should achieve the same results as laminating...
  20. Anyone having this problem-GS6000

Well, I spoke too soon. Just about every morning I do a light clean and nozzle check before printing. Yesterday, same as always, perfect nozzle check. This morning, about half the green nozzles were out, the more cleanings I do the worse it looks. Called Epson. Barely mentioned that the green...
