Damage to the piezo kills the head. Wear from use. The crystal actually vibrates to jet ink. It will eventually wear out. Head strikes are the main killer. A hefty strike will fracture the crystal. then as it prints (vibrates) the crack turns into a fracture and it's over.

If this unit uses and optical registration, the lens on the sensor is dirty. I have to clean mine every couple of months or so. send the unit down for a cleaning. Turn off the machine and unplug it. Dampen a paper towel with rubbing alcohol and clean the lens. You should get some black...

Regretfully. You'll probably have a head start going bad over the next two weeks to three months. A crash like that usually fractures the internals on the head and will begin to erode and fail. I have had head strikes where nothing has failed and others that causes premature head failure...
