The pigments in the white and metallic will never fully clear out of the system and will cause problems with contamination. We don't recommend switching. A proper conversion would involve replacing the entire ink delivery system including lines, dampers, and the head. It is an expensive...
If you give Tech Support a call at (800) 542-2307 they should be able to help diagnose the problem and determine whether you need service. Feel free to PM or email me your contact information and I can have someone call you if that's preferable.
In short, neither of the two machines you are looking at were designed to run white. The SC-545EX and XC-540 were available with white, but it was a choice that had to be made at the time of install. If you can find a used one that has been running white, it will be your best option.

Lots of good suggestions here. I will also add that if you haven't replaced your cutter protection strip in a while, it is worth doing. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. It will eliminate one more variable.
It will definitely run Sintra, foam boards, and a variety of other sign materials in 4 x 8 sheets. We do it every day in our demo room here.
There are weight limitations that will preclude the use of full sheets of certain 1/2" materials, since they are just too heavy. That's the problem with...
I think this document might help:

If you turn the sheet cut on in VW, it will cut at whatever interval you have set for custom cut.
No, I am not referring to any dealer. We have a Roland DGA employee who is responsible for overseeing service in the area. He will be very interested in understanding your experience, and getting you back up and running.
Please PM me with your contact information and I would be more than happy...
I realize that you are frustrated with the techs you have been dealing with. However, we do have a Roland corporate regional tech manager who is based north of Boston. He happens to be here in California at the moment, so it would be very easy for me to talk to right now him about this and...
I'm sorry you are having this experience, and I understand your frustration. I'd like to try and help you. I am sure we can resolve your problems and get a tech onsite. Please send me a PM with your contact information. Your profile here at Signs101 doesn't contain your company name.
Here's a link to a blog post that Rick recently did regarding the results of a survey we ran:

It might offer some ideas. We have also found that while it is true that the metallic ink is much more expensive than CMYK...
If you have any old jobs saved as RVW files, you should be able to open them in VW and check what settings you used, and then transfer those settings to the queue.
I was about to get one of the support people to give you a call when I checked the logs and saw that it looks like you talked to them this morning. Hopefully you're all set. If not, drop me a PM and I will get someone to call you back.
While I am sure Petepaz's videos will be more interesting to most of you since they will come from an actual shop, there are 5 short videos on this page that show various features of the LEJ-640:

@Petepaz - Thanks for the kind words and good review of the LEJ-640. It sounds like your dealer did a great job of getting you up and running. Let them or me know if there is additional information you need as you start to explore the capabilities of your machine.
