  1. Wrapping a 50ft tall concrete silo. Anyone ever done something similar? Pricing and time?

this thread will definitely need updates. I dig your optimism, but that's one heck of a can o' worms. Lotta unknowns, but I am ...intrigued, at what's to come of it.

  4. Who is responsible for paying for repairs a serviceman created by their own doing?

lame. you called them to service something, and their service-work resulted in destruction of even more expensive parts of your machine? that's horrible service, at $200/hr most likely, and you shouldn't have to pay for it.
  5. Recently completed Digital display

niiiiice work! we've worked with a variety of display manufacturers, and watchfire is the best when it comes to end-user support. We've had plows hit those displays, and it still functions despite its mangle'd appearance and the panels are super easy to swap-out for replacement.
  6. Need Help Vinyl That will stick to Marine vinyl covers

test test test test. but it is most likely polyethylene, which is a low surface energy plastic that requires a high tack vinyl.
  7. Need Help Mopar Paint Code to Printer?

I've yet to find a simple solution, just dealt with this on a few recent colorchange wraps and the best way is to just to request access to the paint chip book from a local dealer/repairshop and cross-reference with your own PMS/Paint/miscColor book to find your target.
  8. Sign Application Table

zombie thread madness! guess I'll mention, that CWT's Application Table is better than the rest! ...and that's why I'll soon be buying another one. p.s. how does a 16' table only do an 8' sign?
  9. Are TrueVIS Rolands really THAT bad?

o wow, really? i fell in love with the VG2's print quality & super sexy design that I had witnessed at the sign show. White point is incredible as well. I'd hate to blame the users, but a lot of those help me threads are from people that are completely new to wideformat printer technology and...
  10. New to the industry....

rivots have a smaller profile, & clamp the material together. screws don't have much material to bite-into, and easily strip-out the hole, when you're binding two pieces of ~.040-063" metal together. that being said....we stopped using rivots years ago, when we got one of these clinching...
  11. Selling My Soul for Reliable Graphic installers. Denver, CO

  13. Printing True Grayscale

when saving your image file, convert to output custom cmyk profile with Max GCR selected. allows you to print your image with profiles on but all the greys are rendered with a heavier black value as opposed to the CMYgreys that usually disappoint.
  14. Need Help URGENT HELP: MIMAKI JV33-160BS Printing blurry

sounds like an alignment issue but if you were printing good the day before, and you didn't have a major head crash, then there should be no reason for you to suddenly have alignment issues other than maybe the encoder strip is dirty?
  15. How to cut out the decal?

you talking about cutting the decal out, along WITH the liner? most companies that do this have a diecut machine or a CNCtable with a knife/wheel cutter, but you will wear-out a vinyl plotter trying to do this yourself. +1 to a paper cutter being easiest DIY method. chop/stack/repeat

extrusions from metals distributor. round tube, square tube, steel/aluminum, etc.
  17. Printable reflective

Arlon's DPF 2400, is the whitest i've seen of all the non-prismatic reflectives. They also have air-egress & wrappable versions, and the material doesn't appear to bruise unless completely creased.
  18. Secret Sign reveal

spray chalk coat it and "unveil" with a hose or a buncha waterballoons.
  19. Need Help How do I make my own profiles?

HP's pretty good with instructions/tutorials for their profiling system. youtube videos available via google search and the HPlatexknowledgebase has a lot of similiar questions discussed, as well as elsewhere here on Signs101.
  20. Recommendation on film for motorcycle wrap

no issues here wrapping with 3M 1080 series vinyls. ....maybe the carbon fiber/embossed pattern vinyls might have limitations, but definitely has no problem wrapping colors/metallics over typical wrap curvatures.
