Not sure about the Edge but on my Roland thermal resin printer gradients print much smoother if rasterized, I do this in Photoshop and sometimes adding just a bit of Noise can help too. I generally create the gradient in Photoshop and save as a Tiff file, Import Tiff file into Flexi and mask...
Sure, why not? What's it take maybe 3 minutes, two swabs and a couple drops of cleaning solution?
A small price to pay to avoid issues such as the one you are experiencing now.
Please do not confuse a Vinyl Express cutter with a Graphtec cutter, they are not the same machine and the price reflects that. Been running my Graphtec FC-4100 like a work horse daily for 16 years now without ever experiencing a single problem.
Panel saw with a good / proper blade, never a problem.
Polycarbonate will occasionally blow out on entry or exit on the panel saw so generally I'll cut that with a hand held router and a straight edge.
Neither of my Roland printers would put out crap like that, not the thermal resin nor the inkjet. There is an obvious printhead issue going on there. Oh and if they did I sure as hell wouldn't try and sell it as acceptable print quality, it is amazing what some shops will let out the door.
Up here franchise shops like Fast Signs have kept their Gerber edges in service along with larger inkjets. Shoot I still use my Roland Thermal Printer at least once a week, printed $1,300 in decals on my old door stop boat anchor just this week. Good luck in finding a local Edge.
Your User Manual will tell you how to change the default cutting length setting, I recall running into the same thing with my FC4100 back 15 years ago, think I changed mine to 300" if I remember correctly, not at shop so can't check.
Contact a Roland Dealer for parts, you can find them on Rolands website.

Good lord, did your printer explode? Here's mine at 9 years old.
"I don't want to spend triple the money on caste vinyl"
Forget about the materials for a moment ... Defective Mindset is your problem.
BTW ... it's "cast" vinyl.
Site was active yesterday ... Maybe someone like Harley asked him the same question. I did notice that he did not have the integrity to answer my question, that in itself answered the question.
