  1. Another Font id Please

Not sure on the font but am positive the flourish is from the library that comes in Gerber software. Love.....Jill
  2. Old Paint lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you are on the mend, Joe. You'll have to be careful not to get too excited watchin the Stillers an'at. Love.....Jill
  3. Design for a new customer today

When using that font try the alternate "s". Type it out like this: Jays' Then break apart. Move the ' to the right spot, and weld the word. Then node edit to make it look smooth where the y and s join, as if it had been hand painted. The right spot for the ' is where it looks right to you, not...
  4. Let me have it....

Sorry, it's been a long weekend Rex. I like the bottom flourish Tiki added. I like the red panel. I don't think you need that dark drop shadow on the Signs & Graphics part. :)
  5. latest logo job

Here's a quick mock up using a John Deaton car, I can't draw them and while I prefer your vehicle, it just needs something, whether it's only a bit of motion or something. The food is just thrown in from a dingbat font to give the idea of quick delivery, hopefully without anything blowing out...
  6. latest logo job

I like that first one but the food needs to be simplified. The vehicle could have more zip, maybe slightly cartoony with more motion. I like the idea of the vehicle busting out of the sircle. I don't like the second one's typography at all, it's hard to read and not a s "service-ey" looking as...
  7. Competition must have a natural balance

It means that this is such an easy to get into "career" that even a monkey can make signs. Around here lately you see corosigns (which you can't really read) go up and a few newly lettered vehicles riding around (which you can't really read) A few new ads in the YP. I saw a new sign shop on Main...
  8. Happy 2011

Yup well said. May I add: Sweet dreams to all of our 101 insomniacs May Algerian, Brush Script, Abbadon, and Balloon Bold magically disappear from all computers May nobody shart or be shartled No hangovers to our 101 drinkers May all Cricuts self destruct May nobody squish, stretch, or otherwise...
  9. Attempt at my logo

Uh-oh, now you are highlighting both. That's like wearing chandelier earrings with a Phyllis Diller necklace. One or the other. Not both.
  10. Anyone know this font ?

I think it's an Atkinson font. FHA French Roman Heavy. Or you could always just ask Stevo. Love.....Jill
  11. Design opinions

GG that's a really nice suggestion. Can you lose the starburst behind the animal's head? Reminds me of those scary portraits of saints in Mom's prayer book. Love....Jill
  12. Attempt at my logo

Fake it till you make it...learn by your mistakes and keep on trying. (at least that's what I tell myself)
  13. Let me have it....

"Signs and Graphics" doesn't need that red outline. Other than that I think it's much nicer than your first one. I really like the way Tiki handled it. His text on Tuscan doesn't look as stretchy. But I didn't see that in yours till I saw his suggestion.

And again! My fave niece's birthday is today too. Love....Jill

  15. Wrap Portfolio

Man oh man. You seem like a nice enough person so I will try to be kind. What everyone said is true. That is uglier than a hatful of @ssholes my friend. :) Of course the people who love you are going to say it's cool because to people who don't do layout and design all day, it might be cool...
  16. Which would you pick

His is far more legible. Not that yours isn't dynamic. But if someone doesn't want a logo they will never buy one. His girlfriend probably did that in Microsoft Word. You can design for free all you want, but usually when you just hand someone something for free they do not appreciate it. I have...
  17. Attempt at my logo

I like John's idea with the JM in back, but with way opened up kerning. I would go with the J-M rather than J.M. just because it looks more "corporation" like. I don't like seeing a cursive capital J beside a cursive capital M. I would highlight the signs part because to me that seems...

  19. Inspiration to make quality signs

Yup and even similar to my writing style. Gotta love Chuck. :) I posted this example on another forum this week and hate to double dip. But here is a before and after. The before is what someone who buys a plotter and learns a few effects spits out and calls a layout. The after is a logo I...
  20. Let me have it....

I like it...but you asked. Make the "T" bigger. Tighten up the kerning on Tuscan, on all but the last two letters. Then tuck all those under the arm of the T. "s" is kind of far from "E" in "Est." Or better yet, use the script for "Est." and choose a plainer font for SIGNS & GRAPHICS It's nice...
