  1. Holiday Inn Lighted Faces

hell yeah, miratec is solid. i just blurted out Everbrite knowing they would already have the artwork ready to scale & go.
  2. Mounting standoffs to glass?

pics, or it never happened. o_O ....although I'll take a guess and assume you're talking about using a combination of gemini adhesive pads bonded to glass with Lexel, and decorative stand-off hardware to hold the panel.
  3. Question Looking for.................................

i LOVE that you guys remember years-old threads like I do! I was just about to post about the guy that built the airplane from coroplast. hah! anyhow, +1 Piedmont Plastics. great supplier. they carry IntePro plastic, comes up to 25mm (0.98") thick
  4. Holiday Inn Lighted Faces

+1 polycarbonate-or-"bust" for these type of applications. Fairly certain these were never glossy faces, I've seen plenty of them. Lustre, if anything, but I would bet $5 it was matte and/or a textured/"graffiti-resistant" overlaminate. HDexpress has a national signage supplier, but who it is...
  5. How is this done?

layering takes a LOT of effort. if a printer has white capabilities, I'd imagine they just had prism vinyl as base vinyl, possibly pre-laminated to a high-tack material to stick to low energy plastic, and graphics printed on top of it. if I were to do any layering, it would be to add...
  6. Looking for local printers, short runs. Delaware

It looks like you have two signarama's and a fastsigns in delaware. they handle small runs pretty well. we send all of our bumper-sticker clients to one in the next town-over. also, you could always pair up with a car-wrapper in your area, such as XtremeGraphix or DelawareLiquidWraps in...
  7. Need to source a sign produced from sustainable materials...

"A variety of factors make HDPE a sustainable material that you can use in your facility, the major ones being the following: HDPE is made from recycled materials. ... Not only is HDPE sustainable by being made from recycled materials, but it's also 100% recyclable."
  8. Suggestions How's this done? ( Correctly )

copyright rabble-rabble aside, +1 to using google search tools to give you only "medium" or "large" size image results. start with the highest quality resolution you can get your hands on. next, if enlarging a ~6" photo to ~48" for a hood graphic, don't just let your rip software handle the...
  9. Installing a heavy 1/2" aluminum sign panel

does the mounting plate HAVE to be steel? you could just route match plates out of the 1/2" aluminum, weld them to the "legs" of your sign plate, and thru-bolt to the building. +1 NO to acrylic. it has no guaranteed structure and will certainly snap/crack/shatter in the elements & cut...
  10. Installing Gemini track on maxmetal

gemini letter track is polycarbonate, so if you're using an adhesive then you have to pick one that bonds to that.... such as SciGrip 58.
  11. Need Spectrophotometer for Onyx

+1 xRite. Luckily my HP 26500 has onboard spectro, but we used to borrow an xrite from the salesman that sold us our printer everytime we wanted to profile our machine. Sounds "cheap", but its worth a shot to give them a chance to make a sales-call while you get a chance to "try" the gear for...
  12. We are thinking of getting a CNC Router, but This was interesting

I can't say enough good things about MultiCam CNC routers. our 3000 series has been a workhorse for the past 15+ years, with minimal service thanks to weekly maintenance.
  13. Question about building a DIY Vacuum table

been off this site for a while, but couldn't help but bring this thread back to life for the sake of more info: -we get 3/4" MDF from our supplier, and it works great. more chances to resurface before replacing. BUT if you want thinner material, HomeDepot always carries 1/2" sheets. noted...
  14. Awful wrap.

woof. she's a piece of work alright. wasted time&effort wrapping the emblems, and around tail lights, when it is so easy to remove & replace them. Looks like they also didn't bother opening the rear door to wrap the sides either. I'd hate to see what the front-end looks like.
  15. Question SW Paint to plotter vinyl color comparison?

-069 duranodic? interesting... that paint color looks "greener" have had great experiences with painting vinyl fields & plotter-cutting, if match needs to be exact.
  16. Total Garbage!

    onyx. never an issue.
  17. Latex ink cartridge life

i would shake that cartridge more than I've ever shaken a cartridge in my LIFE! ....but I would still use it. worst-case, you gum up a $100 printhead (doubtful). best case, you've salvaged a $140 ink cartridge. worth the risk.
  18. Looking for supplier

even the most competitive banner supply companies, will charge you closer to $3psf & have online design tools available for layout.... keep us all posted if you find someone offering $1psf, because that would be awesome. (and i still wouldn't believe it)
  19. Looking for supplier

the banner quote gets their foot in the door. the scam comes when they order 100, have you pay the "shipping company", and they care less about what happens to the product because they already have your $$$.... because they're the shipping company.
