  1. What special options might I have in Rasterlink 5?

If you printed a 4 color and 6 color print, put them side by side, and asked people to say which one looks better, no one would be able to tell the difference. You could even get the top 20 color guys in the world in the same room, and without special equipment and magnifying glasses, they...
  2. Seeking material recommendation!

If you can go without the Air Release, the Oracal 3641 is a very down and dirty cheap vinyl made specifically for temporary signs. I have a customer who uses it for real estate signs and goes through it like water.
  3. 3M Price Increase

FDC and Arlon have both announced increases as well. Sounds like a raw material just got more expensive.
  4. What special options might I have in Rasterlink 5?

White and Silver are the only official options. If you are looking to have a printer that prints high quality colorful prints at production speeds, stick with CMYKx2. It's much faster, easier to maintain and you will get high quality prints fast. Light Cyan and Light Magenta are useless in my...
  5. Mutoh VJ1604 Dye Base

Since it is the black on the edge of the head that you are having issues with I would say the cap top is either dirty or needs to be changed. If the maintenance station is really old it could be time to change the whole thing. Also, check your ink lines to see if there is any air in them. If...
  6. Metallic ink - fill cartridge with ??? To save £££

Every single customer that comes to me wanting to print with metallic or white inks on a solvent printer I tell them you don't want to do it and most of the time they are convinced. Every once in a while we get a customer who says they must have it. As soon as the machine is installed we have an...
  7. Need Help finding the ip on a SP-540V, also setting up in flexi

A cross over cable is just a regular network cable with 2 of it's cable sets crossed. Don't go to a store and pay way too much for one because they prey on people's ignorance and up the price even though it's essentially the same cable. So while you could go buy one, it shouldn't affect your...
  8. Need Help finding the ip on a SP-540V, also setting up in flexi

I haven't used it in a while but if the printer is turned on and the communication cables is plugged in it should just pop up. Try going into the command prompt and type: arp -a It will show you all of the devices connected to your network. Since the printer is the only thing hooked up to...
  9. Question Is Arlon DPF 4600LX sufficient for going over rivets?

Only cast will go over rivets properly. There is no calendared vinyl out there that will do the trick. DPF4600 is good for covering up old graphics due to it's gray adhesive but other than that it is just your standard calendared vinyl with air release. People use it for van and truck graphics...
  10. Is it necessary to change dampers and when replacing a head

I always do change the dampers with a new head. There are filters in them that do fail and can allow particles to get into the head. It;s worth changing them just for peace of mind.
  11. Need Help finding the ip on a SP-540V, also setting up in flexi

You may be happy to hear that, any OS after Windows Vista will automatically figure out if the cable is cross-over or not and change the way it sends the signal accordingly. You can use any cable now!
  12. Need Help finding the ip on a SP-540V, also setting up in flexi

Here is a link to the tool that you use to change the IP settings on the printer: Link
  13. Guy flipping gasket inside DX5?...serious?? - (anyone speak Hindi? Urdu? or..??)

All the gasket does it create a seal between the manifold and head. Flipping it will do nothing and may even just fail completely in which case ink will flow out of the sides and fry the head. Flushing the manifold could fix an issue in some cases but the gasket either works or doesn't.
  14. How to adjust JV33 Capping Station?

You should never need to adjust your capping height on the JV33 and CJV30s. In my almost 10 years as a certified Mimaki tech, I have never done it once. Normally when your are sucking air it is due to the cap top just being worn out, dirty and/or the bottom of the head is dirty and causing the...
  15. Small letter cutting issue

As C5 said, change the strip just to rule it out. You want to keep that looking new anyway. The offset could also be affecting it. Other than that the only time I have seen something similar was on a Graphtec and it was a broken gear on the drive mechanism that caused the issue. Take a look at...
  16. Lost cyan and yellow

If the dampers are filling properly, we can assume the issue is not above the damper. So it has to be something to do with the head itself or below. When you changed the dampers, if all of the other colors came through except for the yellow and cyan, we can pretty much rule out a cap top or pump...
  17. Flexi 12 subscription and colors

I bet it has something to do with your input color profiles from one version to the other. Most software uses the exact same input profiles so it is rare to see different ones but if you ever changed that setting on the old version, the new version will default to the standard ones. The standard...
  18. Cjv30-130 Head replacement?

The black is definitely deflecting and judging by the nozzle check it is probably unrecoverable. If you look at the bottom of the head you can see how pronounced the nozzle lines are. That is usually a sign of an older head. You could try flushing it to recover but it's a gamble. Also...
  19. Epson GS6000 error "No ink cartridge installed"

Call Triangle. Their ink chips normally are not truly life time chips and have to be recharged after a while. The more you reset the chips, the faster they expire. It's normally a free service.
  20. Mutoh value jet 1304 printing issues

Yeah you would be able to see it. Anywhere the media has a little hump in it, the ink will lay down lighter.
