  1. new decals coming lose from rain, is there a fix?

what vinyl? got pics? did you clean/remove wax from the vehicle before application? was the paint oxidized(chalky)? ...heat gun & TLC would be my first thought at a solution, but when it fails this quickly then you've got more than just a quick-fix to sort-out.
  2. Panel Gripper sign hardware - seen these around?

MBS and displays2go were my first thoughts, but they only have cylindrical hardware for edge-grip/wire-hang
  3. Cut Letters look crooked on Van Contour HELP

    +1, always Parallel>level.
  4. Panel Gripper sign hardware - seen these around?

originally bought these from Gyford Stand-Off Systems, almost a decade ago, but hoping that someone's come across another source for these egg-shaped 3/8" panel grippers? (currently jumping through hoops to get re-registered, but I have no idea how long this is going to take and would hate to...
  5. Digital Print onto Cast Or Calendered? Which holds up?

cast/calendared, prints the same. unlaminated ink last just the same on either. quick google search, will answer most of your lamination questions. for example: lamination of digital prints. when, why, how? and yes, hard hat decals are frowned upon by OSHA. believe it or not. kinda b.s...
  6. One of our designs made it on a Super Bowl Commercial.

good catch and nice work as always! "this ad paid-for by the illegal-Illinois tollway system"
  7. **glow in the dark vinyl**

god, i hate thread pirates and I'm now my own worst enemy... accidentally confused the reflective comment with my other thread discussion differences between 5600/5700. my bad :)
  8. Anyone know what this is?

    knee pad?
  9. **glow in the dark vinyl**

but, for the most part, 5700 would be a good "overall-use" reflective vinyl and kick-it-up-to 5600 when you don't trust the 5700 to hold over rivots/curves? do they both have the same white-point? i've never seen them sidebyside, but I know that 5700 is more grey than 3M 5100's white.
  10. **glow in the dark vinyl**

I assume you're referring to this thread that I just now came across? Hah, I wish I would have read sooner or I wouldn't have dropped the F-bomb on here.
  11. unwanted light blue stripes on print

pictures are worth a million words :) without a photo reference, my guess would be that you have blocked nozzles in your printhead. if your test print is 100%, then my next guess would be ink supply issues. ...and that's assuming that you've already tried correcting media compensation on your...
  12. Oralite 5600 vs. 5700

what's the difference between Oralite 5700 & 5600? ...is it really worth the $+30% uptick on the latter? 5600 boasts for curved surfaces and rivots, but if my only vehicle reflectives are simple lettering then do I really need a "wrap-grade" reflective? they're both cast vinyls correct...
  13. **glow in the dark vinyl**

yuck. fellers's "SafeGlo" brand boasts 6-8hr illumination, 5yr durability, and is only $35/yd at 24". Which is where I'm leaning-towards, but I'm still making sure I'm not overlooking better options to stand-behind. 3M 6900 Luminous vinyl has also been suggested to me, but I'm struggling to...
  14. Cut vinyl on clear static cling?

vinyl on cling only works if you have a large field of blank cling around the graphic. the portions of the cling with vinyl won't stick, but the perimeter of your static cling should hold everything up just fine.
  15. **glow in the dark vinyl**

i've read that the glow isn't rated for emergency signage, which kind of kills my draw towards selling it to my clients for wayfinding. emergency lights will negate the glow, so reflective/illuminated has always been my way to go. however, I do have a client that is insistant on...
  16. Extended Warranty, Worth it??

never been a fan of the extended warranties. whole lotta money I'd rather save towards a new machine in a few yrs. warranty is currently running-out for my hp26500, and will most likely pass, BUT I do still have a free tech-visit c/o Advatage that I intend to use and verify everything is...
  17. not doing it for nothing

+1 stick to your guns. do it right AND make money, or don't do it at all.
  18. Chrome?

+1 here, as well might be overkill, for something that might fail before my cast overlaminate does, but i've got a few 3+year old chrome vehicle graphics still going strong & lookin' sharp! edited: actually, i DID have one failure... and it was a 3'x6' field of chrome that I rushed out the...
  19. Mimaki jv3 sp 160 wont startup.

good news, you just need a new printhead!
  20. Mimaki jv3 sp 160 wont startup.

hard to say, without knowing much more about what actually happened during your "service" of the machine. does this mean you had a bad re-insert of ribbon cable, bending the connectors in the printhead? if you don't reconnect the data cables properly, you would be experiencing this issue...
