I would think it's the same CutContour swatch used in illustrator. Haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure its just 100 magenta, spot renamed "CutContour"

  3. Roland SP Versacamm Catch Baskets

seems like a handy sign guy could mess around with some bits from an old banner x and come up with something similar. Might not be as purty tho.
  4. a brand spanking new...

  13. Illustrator ???

illustrator is a lot different and a steep learning curve, but I have tried the rest; Corel, Freehand and a lot of crappy restrictive sign programs etc. Illustrator is the best. Plus it outputs the cleanest postscript. It's worth getting used to.
  14. Starting a new business in the uk

The self-employment bug bites again. Congrats on your new venture, it sounds like you are just starting? Keep your overheads low while you build your business. Outsource to experts until you have the throughput. Its by far the best way to get started, particularly if you are the...
  15. How much power does a rip need?

I'm looking at a new install of Versaworks 3. I need to decide whether to use one of the existing computers that hang around or go out and buy a spanky new beast of a machine. It will be running a vp540, doing all kinds of medium sized signage. Any thoughts on what should be running this...RAM...
  16. Font???

I guess when you create a logo for someone you have to use an nice obscure font so they don't go elsewhere. Can't beat the signs101 crew though. Back in the days when it was called typesetting, and it was all cut and paste (real cut and paste with glue) some setters would slightly modify a...
  17. Tough font - Any ideas?

I think it's one of a million self made handwriting fonts on the free font download sites. It's just too plain ugly to be a real font. It will be close to a lot of fonts, but not there. Good luck with the hunt, though you might be better faking what you need from other fonts.
  18. Roland DG today introduced the new VersaArt RS 640

Just talked to a sales guy, the RS is basically 20% faster than the VP but without the cutter. I think the price point and extra speed are aimed at the mutoh market, slightly cheaper and slightly faster than the other rolands in that range.
