Nice logo John! I like that script for the name. I think it's best to downplay the word "design" in the OP's case, since that seems to be an area he is weak in.

Fonts can't be forced to work. Every logo has just the right font. If you're limited to a handful of fonts that were automatically installed on your computer, you are severely handicapped. You either need too search out more free fonts or "invest" in fonts that will serve you well. I have...

Acrylic is to smooth and the silicone doesn't bite well unless you scuff up the back with some really course sandpaper. I've had it fail when unsanded.

Color theory vs. artistic interpretation, worlds apart. As an artist you choose colors for many reasons to convey feeling, movement, emotion, etc. yadda, yadda, yadda. Make it legible, make it pretty. Use the right color for the job. Color is my thang.
