  1. Vinyl won't stick to glass

I literally learned about permanent hydrophobic coatings yesterday. Haha!
  2. Vinyl won't stick to glass

I just ran into some glass made with an industrial hydrophobic coating a couple days ago. Nothing will stick to it. Pretty exciting.
  3. Corel or Adobe?

It's all personal preference. Like myront says, as long as it gets done. I like Illustrator.
  4. Vutek 3250 secondary ink tank not filling up

You could always check the lines to make sure you don't have any sediment in there. If there is, it's possible it's either restricting flow through your lines or getting into the sub tank and fouling the float. Floats are finicky, I'd check them every time you have an issue. They're usually very...
  5. best sign related injury :)

We just had another printer installed a few weeks ago and the guy setting it up was telling us about how a laminator fell on him when it was being unloaded from the truck. Landed on the back of his neck and shoulders and almost killed him. Whew.
  6. Vutek 3250 secondary ink tank not filling up

Could be any number of issues. If it's starting out fine and then dropping out as you get further in, probably a starvation issue, most likely the sub tank isn't filling quickly enough.
  7. What the font

Looks a little like Great Vibes bold?
  8. best sign related injury :)

Man, y'all are dangerous. The worst I've ever done is the tip of my thumb lost to a utility knife when it jumped over the face of a straight edge. Only use straight edges with finger guards now. Funny part is that I went to the doctor, thinking they'd stitch the tip of my thumb back on. Sat for...
  9. Exacto Blades Not Sharp Anymore

I will say they're plenty sharp enough to cut your fingers still. I was working late at a hospital helping install some signs and joking about how I always manage to cut myself and boom. At least I was already at the hospital. Haha!
  10. Are you guys finding it harder and harder to actually talk to a customer?

Definitely a good move. I always do the same thing. "Per our phone conversation today..."
  11. Best place to hire experienced sign people?

It's also worth noting that some employees you're going to have to challenge. If you've got a jack-of-all-trades employee that can do just about anything and you stick that person in a position doing one thing (weeding/taping, painting) without challenging them, they're probably going to leave...
  12. Suggestions How much should I pay an employee?

Oof. That’s a heck of a benefit. That’s the kind of thing that keeps employees around.
  13. Suggestions How much should I pay an employee?

Dang. Paying 100% of insurance is HUGE. Y'all hiring? Haha! My wife and I pay about $700 a month for insurance for the family.
  14. Are you guys finding it harder and harder to actually talk to a customer?

Sounds like some typical liberal dummy rant! We'll see who's laughing last. Just because trickle down economics hasn't worked the last two times we tried it and actually made everything worse doesn't mean it's going to happen again! /sarcasm
  15. Design Online??

There are several options out there for digital storefronts, but they're not cheap. A web developer could probably custom make one for you, but that's beaucoup money too.
  16. Wholesale sandblasted Redwood Signs

You could also try masking wood blanks yourself and taking it to a local place to be sandblasted. Could probably get what you wanted a LOT cheaper.
  17. What should I do on the shop car?

Even though Kias are made in South Korea, I still laughed.
  18. Does doing it right matter?

Ha! I was about to make a similar comment. Just outline your dang fonts so that I don't have to try to track down some obscure, weird font that you think looks cool (it doesn't, you're the only one that likes it). I do appreciate that people are trying to "help" by adding crop marks and bleeds...
  19. What is this about?

So it does it whenever you print anything at all or just when you do nozzle checks? If you're printing a file and it prints that black bar in the middle of a run and then stops, it could be a couple of things. I've had it happen when the encoder is dirty or the reader is dirty. If it's the...
