I'm pretty sure American Made Signs is the name of the company, since that's his handle and if you Google "American Made Signs" there's a shop that pops up in Virginia. Just sayin'.
That video hits too close to home. I had to explain once why you couldn't change the length of one side of a triangle without changing the angles to a sales person. It was the most frustrating conversation I've ever had. "Geometry" wasn't a sufficient answer. There were like four people trying...
A couple years ago a guy tried to offer me $12 an hour to do his graphic design, but also run his eco-solvent, the laminator, do finishing, and also handle walk in customers. At the time I was making not quite double that and I was shocked at that low ball offer. Like wide-eyed, mouth open...
Absolutely agree. 100%.
When you have guys opening shops and then head hunting and offering people with lots of experience and wide-ranging skill sets $12 an hour, it's offensive. I get that you just opened your shop and you need someone who can do design, run your printers, do installs, and...
I just meant you were right about poaching from other companies, wasn't trying to put any words in your mouth.
I also meant reliability as in the "shows up for work on time, works overtime if needed" type of reliability. You're 100% correct that you have to buy loyalty. People are only loyal to...
Gino is right. You're probably going to have to poach somebody from another company if you want somebody who is good, reliable, but can be hired for a reasonable rate. Even then, you could end up paying anywhere from $14 to $16 an hour if the company they're at wants to keep them and counters...
Used Cyrious at two different companies and would recommend it. It has a fairly steep learning curve if you want to manage every last detail of the software, but it's VERY robust. Most CSRs and sales staff can be up to speed within a couple hours and do what they need to do.
I guess I don't get the joke. I'm not sure what hand tools not having batteries has to do with screws that shipped before they were thread cut or X-Acto blades that were shipped without being sharpened.
I did construction for many years and we had one for a bit. They may have gotten better over the years, but back then they were junk. I have to assume they still are.
I'd buy these (or something similar) and then sell them to the customer at a markup. More hassle than it's worth for something that the customer could buy online if they spent 30 seconds on Google. That's just me though.
[Edit: Apparently the link doesn't work, but you get the gist. Google 50...
Sure. If you're using it a lot and constantly having to change the blades, that time starts to add up though. We've been using Olfa blades for a while and they last days at a time, unless somebody does something dumb (like the dude who likes to throw the knives into the cut mat...).
Depending on the size and location of your company, you might break even or get hammered by the new tax bill. My understanding is that LLCs and S corporations might take a hit in areas where you can no longer take some of the previous deductions. Remains to be seen how it's going to affect most...
