  1. Moving the shop

Good luck, I don't envy you... Moving a business is hard work. We moved a year ago almost to the day, winter's the worst time to do it... Just get lots of rest and get as much help from friends and family as possible. But cutting your overhead by half is a good thing! Post pictures of your new...
  2. Assistance Please - Mimaki JV3 160SP Issue

    Try cleaning your encoder strip.
  3. Looking for a wall graphic media recommendation

I'm partial to Korographics wallpaper media, they have a ton of textures, but it has to be applied with wallpaper paste. It removes fairly easily though, as long as the installer knows what they're doing up front. Just like any other commercial grade wallpaper.
  4. Ai - Collecting linked images for output

Embed the images always, it 100% eliminates the possibility of losing a linked image.
  5. Computer upgrade ideas

Yup. Do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit and reinstall your software. Also consider adding a second fast internal drive like a Western Digital Raptor and using it as a scratch disk for Corel (assuming Corel uses a scratch disk.... I dunno).
  6. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

Good luck, that should work. It's still not 100% possible to tell that's the problem from a photo, but it sure looks like it. FYI the media compensation calibration where the printer actually prints stripes is basically the same thing, but you can't do it this way by eye, you need a loupe (like...
  7. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

Media comp has no bearing on the drop position calibration, technically media comp shouldn't be grouped with any other calibration. Media compensation adjusts how far forward the printer moves the media after each pass. If it's set too high you will get white lines or gaps between each pass, if...
  8. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

That looks like the media compensation is way off. Do you know how to adjust it? If not, while the printer is printing, hit the function key, then enter and you can adjust it on the fly. It looks like it is way too low so try increasing it by 20-30 and hit enter to see if it gets better or...
  9. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

Nope, just swabs soaked in cleaning fluid. Sometimes we'll scrape the edges of the head with a fingernail VERY lightly to break loose stubborn buildups, but it's risky. Technically you car swab the underside of the head (the nozzle plate) but you must be very very gentle and apply no force to it...
  10. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

If it's ink buildup, you have to slide the head all the way to the left, remove the maintenence cover (4 thumb screws), and wipe the bottom edges of the head with swabs/cleaning solution. Spend as much time soaking it with solution and wiping with the swabs until it's perfectly clean. This...
  11. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

can you post a picture of what the banding looks like? The bumps you describe at the left edge really sounds like ink buildup that could be rubbing on the media. But it's hard to say for sure what kind of banding you are experiencing without seeing it. Is your test draw good with no missing...
  12. Mimaki JV33 Banding issue

It sounds like the head is dirty and is rubbing on the media. Have you moved the head over to the left and actually cleaned around it with a swab and cleaning solution?
  13. Digital printing decal capabilities

In all reality, if you can't pay for it in 2-4 months you shouldn't buy it. That doesn't mean you should actually pay for it in that time frame, but if it doesn't or can't generate enough profit to actually pay for itself in that short amount of time, you are probably not ready to make the...
  14. Sports training center sign layout critique

rjpjr nailed it, that's a nice layout.
  15. Sports training center sign layout critique

Neither one passes the squint test. Lettering on the American Flag is hard to pull off because there's no contrast. Try fading the flag in the background instead of keeping it at 100% opacity.
  16. A couple of signs I built a while back

How in the world do you steal $100k worth of restaurant equipment and a neon sign from a mall?!?
  17. Start off today with a Ticket!!!

:goodpost: Gino. Gotta' pay to play, and rule number one is never, ever under any circumstances piss off the zoning enforcement officer. They can be your best friend or your worst nightmare.
  18. Not a "what would you do?" But a "should I do..."

It really is true about people from other countries, almost all of the time. It's not racist, as Flame pointed out, it's their culture to haggle and negotiate price, it's customary and commonplace to them and where they are from. There are very few cultures on earth that aren't like this, ours...
  19. Not a "what would you do?" But a "should I do..."

Come on Pat, even Mosh wouldn't touch this one... You know what to do...
